I want to know about the Koch brothers who have been so instrumental in funding ALEC and gathering Libertarian Conservatives into groups which they are wielding power and money which is truly unprecedented in our political affairs. Because the Kochs have been donating to PBS in some venues, I fear that PBS is alarmed that a documentary, which I assume would be done with the same dedication to truth in reporting and investigation, would aggravate their donor base, especially the Kochs themselves. That to me is a violation of all that PBS represents to the American audience ....

For years WGBH has been a TRUSTED source of RELIABLE information. Please eliminate the Koch influence and return to being a trustworthy and reliable source.

Public television has always been a proud bastion of truth and objectivity, and has not been influenced by bullying power or money interest. "Citizen Koch" was pulled from broadcast because public television is afraid of upsetting David Koch. Public television has a responsibility to answer to and educate viewers like me--and I WANT to see this important documentary! Since the Federal Government will pay 100% of the SC Medicaid expansion for two years with tax dollars we have paid as citizens, and 90% thereafter, it is fiscally irresponsible for SC not to expand Medicaid. The decision not to expand Medicaid is fiscally irresponsible, and leaves thousands of South Carolinians without healthcare coverage.

Earlier this summer, a New Yorker article revealed that public television pulled the documentary Citizen Koch from a planned national broadcast – out of fear of upsetting major PBS donor and right-wing billionaire David Koch. Citizen Koch is a powerful documentary by Academy Award-nominated filmmakers that tells the story of the outsized role of money in politics. After we learned what happened, more than 350,000 people around the country signed a petition urging public television to end the self-censorship and air Citizen Koch. Recently we delivered those petitions to public television’s flagship station, WNET in New York – and now we’re stepping up the fight by urging local stations to do the same.

Documentaries concerning the huge amounts of money spent by political factions in order to influence voters or make it difficult for people to vote must be available to the public. Fear of upsetting David Koch and other billionaires should not be allowed to influence PUBLIC television.

I consider the Koch Brothers subversive and anti-democratic. Their wealth is used to control and manipulate the public to believe that government is the enemy. Theirs is a message to attempt to instill fear and divide the U.S. public on policies that benefit the all.
