The MaineCare Transportation Contract with CTS has proven that working with an out of state broker,specifically CTS is a failed experiment that has greatly effected the quality of healthcare for MaineCare and Medicaid recipients. In the Department's own words, "The launch has not gone as planned and there have been widespread problems. Rides have been missed, people have not been able to reach the broker due to high call volume and some rides have been delivered inappropriately.The performance to date has been unacceptable and we are doing all that we can to hold the brokers accountable." This has effected the quality of care, the ability for providers to earn a living and deliver services and the revenue streams of agency. It has placed great burdens on those already dealing with difficult situations and will only serve to increase emergency room care, raise healthcare costs and limit access to healthcare for our most vulnerable populations.

Since Hurricane Katrina, migrant day laborers in New Orleans have been doing jobs to rebuild the city. But Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials are conducting raids and surveillance on these workers instead of respecting workers' Constitutional rights to be free from racial discrimination, seek work on public streets, and to peaceably assemble. Now, two workers—Marlon and Jose—are facing imminent deportation for defending their right to organize! But it's not too late to stop their deportation. Marlon was targeted by plain-clothed ICE agents while looking for work. Jose was targeted by an undercover agent posed as a contractor looking for workers. Neither men have criminal backgrounds and both operations were in violation of ICE’s own polices on enforcement priorities. Marlon and Jose are going up against ICE in Immigration Court and need your support. If ICE knows Marlon and Jose have public support on their side, they'll be more likely to close the case. Please join us in telling ICE to stop the deportation of Marlon and Jose.

With current gridlock in Congress, and no action on our climate threat, it is becoming clear, that cities and states now hold in their power, a chance to take significant action. With the global mark of 400 parts per million of atmospheric carbon being passed in May 2013, it is clearly time to accelerate the 100% renewable agenda, at the city level. With blueprints now being published by Jacobson et al, for states to go 100% renewable, by 2030, cities are appropriate places to start. Disabled Students in Higher Education is a student group that educates and advocates for Disabled Students in College. UMKC does not support our group the way it supports other groups. Joe Hune's comments shows the contempt he holds for our friends, neighbors, and relatives who will benefit from having regular access to medical care thanks to the expansion of Medicaid in Michigan. Uncompensated care costs doctors and hospitals billions of dollars a year and this expansion will help prevent those costs from being passed on to us in higher insurance rates.

This petition is being circulated to receive an immediate response to the cries of the concerned citizens of the City of Trenton. I was terrified when Obama was planning too quickly and unilaterally to act against Syria. But now that he is engaging Congress, the American Public, and the world leaders in the discussion, I am deeply grateful and relieved. This is a vitally important and difficult decision. I admire the British for saying no to the speed of the decision when the intelligence was still incomplete. Bush's horrible rush to war in Iraq due to botched/prejudiced intelligence is still very clear in all our memories. It is healthy for a democracy to look at this rationally and comprehensively. Let us listen to Obama on Tuesday, September 10, do our own research, and listen to our own conscience. Regime change is never going to work, as we have hopefully learned. A strike to teach a lesson may be a good idea. I think the best solution would be to let Syria know that if another Chemical Weapons attack is ever used again, there will be immediate and damaging strikes at that time. All are fairly warned. All Syria's supporters will then be motivated to advise Syria to never do it again. They will be more accepting and I think more allies will cooperate/participate, if Syria makes that gross miscalculation a second time. It will be far less likely to cause World War III. Right now it is a hornets nest and anything is possible, with multiple retaliatory attacks probable.

I a High School Senior who sees the fast moving rate of High School Pregnancies which often leads to High School Dropouts. I come to realize that schools that offer Sexual Education courses have lower pregnancy and dropout rates. I am on my way towards progression on starting Sexual Education courses in not just my school, but all High Schools. This is a chance to give those who don't know the first thing about sex a piece of mind and how to be protected, or those with parents who failed to teach them about it one as well. With a positive spread of kind words and motivation our voices can be heard, so where do you stand; now or never?
