Summertown High School / Lawrence County TN SchoolsMy children come home extremely hungry from school every day with the change in the school meals. Along with the school menu changes, our principal is no longer along children to bring in snacks. If they bring in snacks or drinks they will be confiscated. (All snack machines on campus are off limits and on timers during school hours.) I wanted to see this changed to allow them to bring in healthy snacks to have in between classes, or during breaks in classes.28 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Velena McGray

We can stop private prisonsPrivate prison companies make billions from torture and confinement. We can stop this by holding prison companies' investors, board members, and public officials accountable. Please join us in urging investors and board members of for-profit prison companies to get out of this exploitative business. We'll inform them of what they're involved in, and if they refuse to do what's right, we'll hold them publicly accountable.577 of 600 SignaturesCreated by Rashad Robinson

Tell Rep. Joe Barton: We need a vote on CitizenshipThe August recess is coming to a close and the House of Representatives have yet to move a immigration reform bill that includes a pathway to citizenship. We need Rep. Barton to support a pathway to citizenship for the 11 million immigrants currently living in the United State without papers. Most of these immigrants have lived in this country for more than a decade and have come to America to seek a better life for their families. They are Americans-in-waiting who are ready to fulfill the requirements of our citizenship process - to study English, pay taxes, maintain a good record and be of good moral character. Instead of focusing only on the border, we need a new approach that is better for families and makes more economic sense.59 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Alejandro Ortiz

Earned Sick Days for Jersey City! The Jersey City City Council is set to consider legislation that would make it the first city in New Jersey – and the 6th city nationwide – to guarantee earned sick days for its residents. This is a chance for Jersey City to take a lead role in the nationwide fight for what should be a fundamental right – the right of workers to take time off when they or their family members gets sick. Tell the City Council to pass the earned sick days ordinance!151 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Bill Holland, NJ Working Families Alliance

Contain the Fukushima RadiationTo All People and Governments of the World: We the undersigned recognize that this is the true moment in our history where everybody all at once must come together to solve the worst disaster in the history of our time. This is the moment where the world’s governments, alliances, and human systems must work together to literally save our planet from extreme radiation that affects our air, water, soil, children, animals, and food. This worldwide disaster has now moved beyond the scope of the Japanese company TEPCO and the Japanese government and now requires the entire world’s help, focus and resources to quickly eliminate the leakage that is destroying the entire Marine ecosystem and economy of the Pacific Ocean, and soon all Oceans. We the undersigned recognize The Radiation Leak at Fukushima to be the world’s number one priority. There is not time to put this disaster off. We petition our governments and agencies of the world to pool together our smartest engineers, scientists, Emergency officials and all funds necessary to procure a quick and effective means of solving the Fukushima-Daiichi Nuclear Radiation Leak immediately. We do not have time to let this go on and on. It has already gone on two plus years and every day we are further poisoning our people, oceans, marine life, and land. This is the moment everyone on Earth must work together to solve this problem quickly. We the undersigned are also extremely disturbed at the lack of real news reporting on the most horrific disaster to happen in our time and ask that the major news reporters deliver accurate information that is not manipulated or “dumbed” down, or scaled up for fear-factor headlines.97 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Danyelle

US Banks are Indirectly Financing Mass Murder in Syria – Tell President Obama to Order Them to StopThe recent actions of the Syrian government against its own people shock the conscience. But our own banks are making the problem even worse by doing business with Russian state financial institutions that do business with Bashar al-Assad. If the largest banks in the United States had to cut off their relationships with those financial institutions, that would be a powerful incentive for those organizations to in turn cut off Assad and stop enabling mass murder. Our banks aren't going to do this on their own. But there is one person who can, by executive order, stop US banks from dealing with those who take Assad's money: President Barack Obama. There's not much we can do to stop civil war in Syria, but by making our voices heard, we can stop our country's banks from making it even worse. Tell Obama to issue an executive order to US banks to stop dealing with the financial institutions that back the Assad regime. http://blogs.reuters.com/great-debate/2013/08/29/in-syria-try-banks-before-bombs/118 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Jon Golbe

Pick-up lineThe new pick up lines at the primary school are too long and under staffed. They are causing those of us that have children in other schools to be very late picking them up. The teachers are not with their own classes when school lets out, so no one knows the student or the parent. We parents don't like the new lines at all. Our hard working teachers are forced to stay late at the all the schools due to this one line. If the new pick up line is going to work we need more teachers or aides outside with children. Two people cannot safely supervise the amount of children they have. That's just one more reason everything is slow, two people taking names and handing children they don't even know over to their parents is not the fastest or safest way. We want the pick up line to go back to the way it was last year. It's just not working.54 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Tina

Say NO to affordable housing in Cape May Court House!!Concerned with the negative effect affordable housing will have on the community as a whole, and the environment it will disturb. Everything from our taxes, real estate, schools, population, safety, and the disturbance of endangered species being affected with the construction of this low income affordable housing. The real estate market is still very soft, and with the addition of this tax exempt housing, the residents will be hit even harder with poor sales prices, and increased property taxes. Also, hearing that this project may be using 5 million of STORM SANDY's rebuilding funds. Schools in this township are already overcrowded, with the addition of more children, the education and budget will be lessened even more. Endangered species and wildlife will be uprooted, and killed with this construction.14 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Laura

Driven TV : Ban This Ridiculous, Cruel ShowBan this T.V show who shows the murder of innocent animals for the sake of a sport. This "T.V show" focuses on killing innocent animals (bears, lions, deer) in order to satisfy their pride. This is cruel and they are not aware of how majority of the animals they are killing (with no purpose) are on the endangered list. No one has the right to kill or harm animals with no purpose. These are cruel, bored, and uneducated people. Let's save these animals, without them, we would not be where we are today. Then humans hurt animals for trying to harm humans.188 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Giulia

Join VoteVets and tell Congress to vote NO on Syrian military interventionIn a letter to Congress several weeks ago Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Martin Dempsey's words speak for themselves. "We can destroy the Syrian air force," he said. "The loss of Assad's air force would negate his ability to attack opposition forces from the air, but it would also escalate and potentially further commit the United States to the conflict. Stated another way, it would not be militarily decisive, but it would commit us decisively to the conflict…" Stand with the veterans and military family members who oppose Syrian intervention and we'll share your thoughts with leaders in Congress before they vote.
