Fracking Ban in CaliforniaHuge amounts of water mixed with unregulated toxic chemicals are injected into the ground to release oil and gas. Fracking contaminates ground water, soil and air and poses serious health risks. Fracking has triggered earth quakes and is currently done on top of the San Andreas fault line. Fracking is unsafe for California and it's residents. It needs to be banned to protect residents, land and water supplies.18 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Simone Schad

McDonald's: Support a raise in the minimum wageMcDonald's recently launched a financial planning site for their workers and came to the conclusion that it is essentially imposible to survive on a single minimum wage job. The site assumes employees will work an additional job just to make ends meet, even for the very bare-bones budget they put together. This is as embarrassing as it is disturbing. If you work full time, you should be able to make ends meet. Call on McDonald's to support a raise in the minimum wage so their workers don't have to work a second job to survive.985 of 1,000 SignaturesCreated by Taylor Leake

Standing our Ground Against Stand Your GroundThough Florida already has laws on the books for cases of self-defense, Stand Your Ground went further to remove a person's duty to retreat from an assailant and reaffirmed the use of deadly force in any place the person has a right to be. It was the first law to extend the right to self-defense to firing weapons in public places and since then there has been at least 16 KNOWN cases where someone was injured or murdered with no convictions(Not including Trayvon Martin). Florida is not safer and it needs not to be amended but abolished. We are going to stand our ground and get this changed!124 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Jay Noetic

Criminal action against Bankers and Wall StreetBoth the large banks and the Wall Street firms (e.g. Goldman Sachs) conspired to develop and sell financial instruments that were illegally represented and sold to individuals and companies around the world. These investments eventually failed causing individuals and their investments to fail while Wall St were betting against the success of these investments and profited from the failure of these investments. In every case, an individual that attempted to perpetrate this type of fraud would be prosecuted and if found guilty, send to jail and fined (e.g. Bernie Madoff). The same should be true for executives of these financial institutions, they should be criminally prosecuted to the full extent of the law and held accountable. The SEC only has the charter to pursue these situations on a civil basis. The US Dept. of Justice must pursue this to insure criminal actions are prosecuted. To date, the Dept. of Justice has not taken on this challenge. If successfully prosecuted, the financial penalties should be returned to the individuals affected. The Sec, the White House and the Dept. of Justice have been communicated to without even a response! The petition is to "find and prosecute the guilty for this illegal action against innocent investors, fine them, send them to jail and return the lost amounts to the people negatively affected".77 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Randy baker

Prohibit Fracking on California's San Andreas faultline.State Legislators and the Governor have permitted oil companies to use toxic chemicals to poison our water table, and penetrate the San Andreas faultline. California is already at risk with earthquake activity, but fracking will guarantee a major earthquake.130 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Peggy O'Neil-Rosales

Tell Congress: Students Deserve Well-Prepared Teachers! What would you do if you found out your child’s teacher, who your school insists is “highly qualified,” was actually inexperienced and had actually didn’t have a credential? Great teachers are the backbone to any great school. A well-prepared teacher working with other professionals in a stable environment is critical to strengthening schools and improving learning. The U.S. House, as part of the Elementary and Secondary Education Action (ESEA) reauthorization process, is considering a proposal that would continue to allow underprepared teachers who do not have adequate training or certification to be identified as ‘highly qualified’ under federal law. According to the Office for Civil Rights Data Collection, children of color are twice as likely to be taught by novice teachers. Students with disabilities are also taught disproportionately by inexperienced and unprepared teachers. Tell Congress to VOTE NO on H.R. 5 and to oppose any extension of the temporary provision allowing teachers in training to work in high-need schools, because it waters down the entry standards for new teachers. Federal law should protect students and set a standard for teaching quality that ensures all students are taught by teachers who are well-prepared for the job. “Highly qualified” should mean something – it should tell parents that the school district is serious about providing quality instruction!306 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Opportunity Action

Justice for the Whitehouse Boys (Dozier School for Boys)University of South Florida researchers have been using ground-penetrating radar to map the school's unmarked burial grounds. While many of the graves have been lost, the USF team has identified nearly 50 grave shafts, 19 more than the Florida Department of Law Enforcement found in an earlier, cursory investigation. USF also suspects that another cemetery exists. But on Monday, Secretary of State 7/15/13 Ken Detzner denied USF's request to exhume the bodies, saying his authority was "restricted to the recovery of objects of historical" value only, "absent a danger to the grave site that actually threatens the loss or damage of those remains."341 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Rhonda Lundquist

Call for an Investigation of Head Directors Who don't Investigate and Prosecute White on Black Ha...For too long African Americans have been used as visa cards, ignored, wrongfully convicted, Denied Due Process, denied equal protection under the law, Raped as a people within the systems of the US government, from Courts, Prisons, Schools, Foster Care, Welfare, Medicaid, Underfunded cities and communities. We need to have the Head Directors at State Levels and Federal Levels Investigated for Obstruction of Justice, and Fraud. Complaints are at their highest ever, yet little to no action is being taken at the state or federal levels to Properly Investigate and Prosecute WHITE on black offenders. Little to nothing is being done to enforce the laws against racial discrimination. The US Gov. makes money off of Blacks and the poor with HIGH conviction rates in courts (court cost), high prison population in jails (40k each prisoner a year, 40,000 x 1 Million people), as foster children (20k each child a year, 20,000 x 1 Million children). They close our schools and under fund our communities, leaving more money for their communities and schools. We have to call for an Investigation of Head Directors of Programs who have many complaints but little to no investigation or prosecutions. Most Head directors with the FINAL SAY are White at local, state, and federal levels. Their actions or lack there of is PROOF of Racial Discrimination, Grounds to have them removed with out voting. Each and everyone who failed to prosecute or enforce laws time after time. This has to change for us to get justice. Follow the money you will see the game. We are Visas with no real rights or EQUAL PROTECTIONS.13 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Telethia Denise Barrett

Ratification of the Equal Rights AmendmentThe Equal Rights Amendment was introduced to Congress 90 years ago. Even though a fierce battle for equality was fought during the 70's and early 80's, not enough states ratified the amendment. Therefore, there is nothing in the US Constitution that cements any women's rights, except the right to vote.
