Gun Control improvements: Urgent that you keep pressure for reform on despite setback. We are elders and our common wisdom sees this plain as day: ban assault weapons, magazines over 10 bullets and institute background checks.

  • Statute of Limitations
The statutes of limitations for sexual abuse in many states are standing in the way of justice. They limit the amount of time victims have to press charges. In many cases the victims are not capable of coming forward until adulthood, many being very young and frightened. They should be able to press charges when they are ready, not told "Sorry, times up." The whole program for convicting sex offenders in the USA is terribly flawed. The system is not set up for individual cases, and it very much should be!

  • Get BPA out of our water bottles
Bisphenol A (BPA) is a known toxic chemical that is still put into products that we consume liquids and foods from; BPA unfortunately has been found leaching hormone mimicking toxins into our bottled water then into our bodies. Studies have proven and actions have been taken to ban its use in baby products; but it is still allowed in water bottles, soup cans and thousands of other products. It is time for these companies to stop poisoning us.

During the Clinton impeachment hearings, Robert Byrd referenced the constitution many times; one of Byrd's democratic colleagues spoke next and began his speech by stating (I'm paraphrasing) -- I'm not as well versed as my (esteemed?) colleague when it comes to the United States Constitution... I passed out from the impact of this massive dose of stupidity; when I was able to think again, I thought, why the __ aren't you as well versed as Robert Byrd when it comes to the constitution? How can you be a member of congress and not have a firm grasp on the fundamentals that are in place to guide lawmakers?

  • Stop The Repeated Repeal Attempts Of "Obamacare"
The republicans in congress, despite all the challenges the country faces, have tried to repeal the law that is The Affordable Care Act 37 times. This dog and pony show takes up the time that Congress has to address the nations problems and taxpayer dollars. One estimate is 80 hours of time on the Congress floor, and over 55 million dollars. These figures probably represent the tip of the iceberg. Having been upheld by the Supreme Court as constitutional, not to mention clearly in the interests of the voters, and demonstrably reducing health care costs, these congressmen should be made to seek another venue for their failed minority opinions. They should use their own time and money to persue their hobbies and be prevented from the obstruction that 37 failed attempts to repeal The Affordable Care Act represents.

  • Democracy is For the People
The right to vote in public elections belongs only to natural persons as citizens of the United States, so shall the ability to make contributions and expenditures to influence the outcomes of public elections belong only to natural persons. A proposed constitutional amendment authored by Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Congressman Ted Deutch (FL-21) is needed to overturn the Supreme Court’s Citizens United v. FEC decision that undermined the very concept of campaign finance laws by asserting that corporations and wealthy individuals can spend unlimited money in our elections. This limitless spending in our elections by corporations threatens our democracy by undermining political equality and diminishing the accountability of our leaders to voters.

  • "Please restore the Philadelphia School Budget and save our Instrumental Music Programs"
The Philadelphia School district wants to eliminate the Instrumental Music program. This elimination will affect many students. Philadelphia Schools have had a long standing tradition of excellence in music programs at the elementary, junior high and high school level. Many famous musicians probably started out playing an instrument in their school. If the school band, orchestra, and choir students keep working very hard, they could become a very skilled musician. Many of our former students could become or are musicians in major orchestras and college professors of music. This would’ve never happened if they hadn’t taken instrumental music classes when they were young. Taking away these programs for our children is unfair and denies them the same opportunities that wealthier school districts can afford. Please restore the Instrumental Music Program in the School District of Philadelphia.
