• Enforce the IRS' 501c4 law and revoke tax exemption from primarily political entities.
Ask the IRS to revoke the tax exempt status from any group, conservative or liberal, who does not truly fit into the correct classification. The 501(c)(4) designation is actually intended for nonprofit group classified as "Civic Leagues, Social Welfare Organizations, and Local Associations of Employees." None of those terms apply to any group recently embroiled in the so-called IRS "scandal." 501(c)(4) organizations are generally civic leagues and other corporations operated exclusively for the promotion of "social welfare", such as civics and civics issues, or local associations of employees with membership limited to a designated company or people in a particular municipality or neighborhood, and with net earnings DEVOTED EXCLUSIVELY to charitable, educational, or recreational purposes. 501(c)(4) organizations may lobby for legislation, and unlike 501(c)(3) organizations they may also participate in political campaigns and elections, AS LONG AS ITS PRIMARY ACTIVITY IS THE PROMOTION OF SOCIAL WELFARE. 501(c)(4) organizations are NOT REQUIRED to disclose their donors publicly. The lack of disclosure has led to extensive use of the 501(c)(4) provisions for organizations that are actively involved in lobbying, and has become controversial. Criticized as "dark money," spending from these organizations on political TV ads has exceeded spending from Super PACs.

  • STOP THE WAR ON DRUGS!
If we stopped the war on ALL drugs and put the delivery system into the hands of competent people, we'd create many jobs, eliminate killings (not only innocents but dealers & suppliers) + save the prison system for terrorists, murderers, rapists & pedophiles. We'd also have cells for white-collar criminals who steal billions every day. Right now, the SCE doesn't have employees to stop thieves who prey on rich & hard-working people alike. They made a mockery of imprisoning Bernie Madoff while many are left to continue stealing. The War on Drugs will NEVER be won! The United States needs to join the rest of the industrialized nations who have already legalized ALL drugs.

  • Scammers
I am tired of scammers calling me and also e-mails. Why can't something be done about this? Have harsher laws would be a good answer.

  • common sense for a common cause
There are so many issues affecting this country but two stand out... a) the gun control issue..we can have common sense about the First Amendment (no yelling fire in a movie theatre)-Freedom of Speech---but no compromise about the 2nd? b) the amount of money, supplied by special interests, to both sides of the political arena, make us a highly corrupt system. We talk about being a Democracy but, in fact, we are more concerned with capital than with freedom

  • Extremely & Dangerous School Zone
This petition is about a extremely dangerous school zone(s) in Albuquerque. Many drivers these days don't care about their speed or their driving skills. It's become so dangerous I've alerted the local media. I've got several drivers on video not obeying school zone limits, and careless driving to the point of children almost being hit by vehicles. I'm asking for support to go to our leaders of our great city, and ask "why do we not protecting our kids in the one zone they should be safe?"

  • Say NO to North Carolina SB 174
North Carolina SB 174 seeks to take away "fast track" rights of injured workers when a disagreement arises about reinstatement of disability benefits and access to medical care. Without having a means for a quick decision to reinstate benefits, workers will go for months without the ability to purchase basic needs (food, shelter). Without having access to a quick decision when a dispute arises about medical care, an injured worker will go months, potentially years, without the care necessary to return to health and return to work.

  • Give Prompt Benefits to Brain Injured Persons
Traumatic Brain Injured persons are denied Social Security benefits. My wife has fought for years, denied benefits rightfully due her. She was hit by a car head on by a reckless driver. Suffering in a Coma she emerged a week later, several experimental knee surgeries and after years of rehabilitation, she's unable to get insurance. Athletic with Two Ivy League degrees and no access to health care. Our priority should be to take care of those injured and provide prompt benefits and national health care for all, which will also save corporations huge amounts of money and make them more competitive.

  • Reduce Child Abuse-Make Child Development Courses Mandatory for All Parents of Minor Children
How many children's lives would be saved/protected if more parents were EDUCATED about the stages of development? Make child/human development courses MANDATORY for ALL parents/expecting parents who receive government assistance, as well as those who have private insurance in order to have medical coverage for the pregnancy and/or child(ren). Insurance providers would be responsible for the expense of the course. Many children's lives and livelihoods would be spared. There would be fewer children with disabilities, in special education classes, in counseling, living in fear. The cycle of abuse would be broken. The requirement would also save money. By reducing the number of physical abuse cases, the costs associated with them would also go down: CPS cases and EVERYTHING associated with them; ASTRONOMICAL medical expenses, public defenders, court costs, foster care, etc. An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.

  • Utah State Bar Protects Unethical Attorneys
Legal Consumer's Beware. Utah needs to ban the use of Private Admonition and withholding critical information about the disciplinary record of an attorney you are about to hire. You have the right to make an informed choice. Utah disciplinary proceedings against attorneys take place behind closed doors, leaving you, the consumer to be a potential victim.

  • Support the Marketplace Fairness Act
Internet merchants should pay sales tax. Exempting these merchants is not fair to local merchants who must pay taxes and it also short changes state and local governments.

  • Don't Let Corporations Ruin Our Clean Energy Future
Allies from across the environmental movement along with labor organizations, consumer organizations, businesses and communities of faith are working together to stop a major rollback to Connecticut’s clean energy commitments being pushed by Northeast Utilities lobbyists and Commissioner of Energy and Environmental Protection Dan Esty in Senate Bill 1138. If they have their way, they would flood our state’s Renewable Portfolio Standard (how our state buys clean energy) with old, environmentally-damaging Canadian Hydro and give a massive corporate handout of more than $1 billion to Northeast Utilities to build the Northern Pass transmission lines. That hurts the renewable industry here in Connecticut and New England and wastes ratepayer dollars on transmission lines that cut through some of New England’s most pristine landscapes. What we need is a clean energy future built here at home with large-scale wind contracts. We need those jobs that would go to a large Canadian hydro corporation to go to small businesses here in our state. We need to be smart about our clean energy future and not waste ratepayer dollars just to pad the pockets of the utility companies.
