Police Officers and firefighters haven given their lives to protect the citizens of New York City. Teachers, Sanitation Workers, EMT and Paramedics give their all for this City every day. Please stop demonizing our Public servant as they are truly the heart and soul of our great City.

Citizens United. We are all affected by this wrongful Supreme Court ruling. Oregonians should ask that it be repealed in their state. It is ruining democracy in our state and our country.

You hear about abuses committed by Correctional Officers in prisons, but we rarely if ever see video tape of it. There's a reason. Many of our Incarceration Facilities don't have cameras installed! They exist on the fences to monitor the perimeter, but inside the jails themselves? In the cell blocks? NONE. It's time to require the installation of security cameras run by third party security teams to properly monitor our prison facilities so EVERYONE can be protected from unjust abuse and mistreatment.

There are many people claiming to be homeless and hungry standing at freeway offramps with cardboard signs pleading for money. They should have a safe and comfortable place to relieve themselves.

In the world of climate, what goes up doesn’t always easily come back down. That’s true of atmospheric CO2 levels, and while we are struggling to control CO2, we must also immediately cut methane and black carbon to help preserve the climate we have for the coming decades. As James Hansen, perhaps the world’s most famous climate scientist, has said, “Expected difficulties in slowing the growth rate of CO2 and eventually stabilizing atmospheric CO2 amount make the non-CO2 (climate factors) all the more important.” We agree, and we implore our leaders to immediately set more ambitious targets for methane and black carbon. Methane could be brought down globally to 1250ppb in two decades. This could probably be achieved without any U.S. legislation at all, but with a global effort, under U.S. leadership, to restructure, expedite and greatly strengthen already existing programs at UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) and elsewhere.
