• Tell Food and Retail CEOs: Your Workers Shouldn't Have To Rely On Food Stamps
Fast food and retail workers in Milwaukee are striking. Together we're launching the Raise up MKE campaign and standing up to the enormous corporations we work for to make sure they get a simple message: Workers like us should be paid a fair wage that lets us make ends meet. Most of us make $7.25 an hour – or just barely more. That means our average salary is less than $19,000 per year, which just isn’t enough to cover basic needs like rent, food, health care, transportation, and often times a family to support. A lot of us are forced to rely on public assistance to make ends meet. Fast food and retail outlets are the new factory floors, and like thousands of workers before us, we are organizing to demand better pay and conditions. Paying fast food and retail workers a livable wage will not only help us support our families, but it will also help strengthen Milwaukee's entire economy. When we’re paid a fair wage, we’ll have money to buy the everyday items we need, keeping the money in our community and making our neighborhoods safer. Here in America, everyone who works hard should be able to afford basic necessities like groceries, rent, and transportation for themselves and their families. Stand with Milwaukee's fast food and retail workers in demanding they get the respect -- and living wage -- they deserve.

  • Congress - accept healthcare rest of nation gets.
All Americans are affected by the HealthCare bill - I personally think it has some very good things in it...Congress can tweak it - but not cancel it...if it's good enough for the common taxpayer, it's good enough for Congress...they are scheduled to get on this healthcare in 2014....now you know why they are trying to cancel the bill! Tweak it and make it better for everyone!

  • Stop Keystone XL/Fracking
The Keystone pipeline and the oil extraction process is an extremely dirty and environmentally damaging way of removing oil. Fracking processes in general use excessive amounts of water that is permanently ruined by adding toxic chemicals necessary to separate the oil from other materials in the ground. Furthermore ground water sources are also polluted during this invasive process of oil extraction which contributes substantially to the pollution of our atmosphere.

  • A Just End to the Guantanamo Hunger Strike
For the past two months, an increasing number of Guantanamo Bay detainees have been on a hunger strike concerning unjust conditions in the camp and their indefinite detention. Now over one hundred detainees are on hunger strike and over two dozen are being force-fed on orders of the US government, a form of cruel and inhumane treatment. To help pressure the Obama Administration to respond to detainee grievances and begin the transfer of those already approved for release, a growing number of US citizens are joining in solidarity hunger fasts, too.

  • Cardiovascular and neurology response teams
Time is muscle for a hear attack victim and brain damage for stroke patients. I would like emergency response teams to be deemed an emergency vehicle and would like the same respect given to us on the road on the way to the emergency to be the same as an ambulance or firefighter. This would envolve having a flashing light and be able to have the right of way on the roadways

  • Mental Health Focus
I'm writing this petition in regards to ALL POLITICAL PARTIES as well as the PEOPLE to get involved in knowledge as well as making MENTAL HEALH ISSUES a priority!!! The world we live in now is at risk every single moment of everyday with 100's of people affected by mental illness issues...my concern is the lack of interest/knowledge from our leaders and the people in this matter. I have suffered from severe depression for a long time...and have lived.through the traumatic death of my wonderful husband who took his life by suicide. Suicide is on the rise in many age groups due to the lack of awareness to the mental illness issue. We need to put this matter on top of the list in politics as well as everyday living!! We need to eliminate the stigma of mental illness issues and make the help more affordable as well available!

  • Increase Railroad Infrastructure
I travel Routes 287 and 80 to get to work each day. I would love to be able to take a train to get to work. As of now, I would have to travel all the way to NYC and change trains or switch to buses several times, tripling my commute. I think others who may travel different highways would like this option, but I don't hear anyone talking about it, so I'm starting my own petition.

  • "Equal Rights & "Let Them Eat Cake Mentality"
We U.S. Citizens are "expected" to pay our own way with OBAMA CARE and/or other health and retirement benefits. "I" am tired of paying for extravagant trips, parties, entertainment, absurd benefits, etc. In a similar vein, I think is criminally wrong to offer $$$ to other countries when our own citizenry is in need. I COULD GO ON & ON & ON!!! :(
