  • Congress and the White House: Reinstate Import Tariffs Now
Until a little more than 30 years ago U.S. workers were protected by import tariffs. Since then corporate profits have surged while American wages have stagnated. We've all been hurt by the lack of import tariffs.

  • Stop massive GSA corruption/public fund theft & whistleblower abuse: Get the FBI to do their job
GSA/mafia corruption amounting to an estimated annual $20 billion in public fund theft through government contracts, has been ignored by the FBI since 2002 when it was reported. The US Attorney's office says they need the FBI on board in order to prosecute. Though reports have continued, even in the face of whistleblower abuse like that experienced by Peggy Miller who has suffered house break-ins, theft of files, invasion of privacy, and abuse from intelligence gathering equipment, the FBI continues to ignore even though the first agent verified the report's accuracy. The Senate Judiciary, Homeland Security and Select Committee on Intelligence should move aggressively on this, and get President Obama and FBI director Mueller to do their jobs. President Obama was told starting in 2009. This drain on the budget needs to be stopped and the corruption needs to end. Also whistleblower protections need to be strengthened. The Congress and the President need to stop the corruption, get the FBI to do their job and protect whistleblowers from civil rights and criminal violations.

  • Tell Fast Food CEOs: Your Workers Shouldn't Have To Rely On Food Stamps
I walked off my job at Jimmy John's this morning because I can’t survive on the poverty wages I make. And I’m not the only one. Fast food workers from all over St. Louis went on strike because the companies we work for aren’t paying us enough to support our families – despite huge corporate profits. Most of us make $7.35 an hour – Missouri’s minimum wage – or just barely more. That means our average salary is less than $19,000 per year, which just isn’t enough to cover basic needs like rent, food, health care, transportation, and often times a family to support. A lot of us are forced to rely on public assistance to make ends meet. It’s downright shameful that someone who works full time is forced to rely on public assistance because their employers aren’t paying us enough. Paying fast food workers a livable wage will not only help us support our families, but it will also help strengthen St. Louis’s entire economy. When we’re paid a fair wage, we’ll have money to buy the everyday items we need, keeping the money in our community and making our neighborhoods safer. I've had it with you and other fast food chains who are not paying your employees in St. Louis enough to survive. I’m outraged that full-time workers can’t afford rent, food, transportation, or health care (health care that you also refuse to provide) and many are forced to rely on public assistance to make ends meet. I believe that, here in America, everyone who works hard should be able to afford basic necessities like groceries, rent, and transportation for themselves and their families. I stand with St. Louis’s fast food workers in demanding they get the respect, and living wage, they deserve.

  • Thank the LA Times staffers who said they will quit if the Koch Brothers buy the newspaper
Right-wing super villains Charles and David Koch are looking to purchase media outlets in order create new mouthpieces for their propaganda. Staffers of the Los Angeles Times, one of the media outlets targeted by the Koch brothers, are not taking this lying down. Last week, at an in-house awards ceremony for Los Angeles Times staff, columnist Steve Lopez asked everyone in attendance, "Raise your hand if you would quit if the paper was bought by the Koch brothers." About half the staff raised their hands, perhaps dooming the sale of the newspaper to the Kochs. Please sign our petition supporting the journalists and staff at the Los Angeles Times who are willing to quit their jobs if Charles and David Koch purchase the newspaper.

  • State/county Operated Towing For Public Street Parking Violations Only
Everyone has been towed or knows someone who has, due to some sort of parking violation, whether it was a Loading Zone, a meter violation or No Parking. In these events, private towing companies are called to uphold public law and the person being towed, in many cases, has no idea what towing company towed the vehicle. This person must also pay any requested amount even though they did not choose the particular company. The state or county should regulate these practices and protect its citizens from these fraudulent-like practices.

  • Let DC Coach!
DC has given everything to the Perham Volleyball Program. He intended on retiring from coaching after the 2013 season but that is being taken away from him. The varsity players want him as their coach. Isn't it suppose to be our team? Why doesn't the athletic director and superintendant listen to the students? How can they say they are at their jobs for students when they don't even consider what the students want and need? He has done nothing wrong other than care too much for the well being of the players. It is clear to the students/varsity players that the superintendant, athletic director and school board have given up on us. DC has never given up on us!

  • Our Children Before Our Movie Stars
Today, more than 30,000 low income children, age birth to five, sit on a waitlist for childcare in Massachusetts. These children are deprived of the very pre-school preparation that is instrumental to lifting them out of poverty. And their parents struggle to make alternative arrangements so that they can work and put food on the table. Recently the Massachusetts legislature slashed more than $17 million from this program making the growth of the waitlist all but a certainty. At the same time, millionaires are benefiting from an overly generous film tax credit that in 2011 cost the State of Massachusetts more than $44 million while generating only $7 million in revenue and virtually no permanent jobs.
