I am just getting ready to retire in June and I can just barely make it with the estimated amount I will be making with Social Security. If this gets lowered even just a little I will be in serious trouble. Joanna Kamburoff

This petition is related to NYS fining our small, poorer socioeconomically speaking school district to the tune of 4.9 million dollars because of a past clerical error related to funding that was applied for & used for our school district maintenance needs & improvements. All applied for funds were used appropriately, but because some simple paperwork was missed or not filed at right time, the children & taxpayers will now suffer at the hands of our government in NYS. We the tax payers & other school district taxpayers are outraged & see no way this will help, but rather will hurt our students & families here & will not further education. Please reverse & waive these fines that we feel will cripple our struggling community & also prevent such punitive actions in the future towards other innocent students, families, & tax payers. Taxpayers & students who never had knowledge of or control over such events leading to this punishment. We wish to prevent future punishments of the same nature from happening as well.

Our Public Housing is at risk, our communities are unaware of the decisions that are being made about our homes. There is funding available that has not been used to aid NYCHA. Affordable public housing should be a top priority in New York City.

We have a fat-cat Congress refusing to handle the business of the people. When they decided to cut spending to much that benefits every American and would help grow the economy, rather than raise taxes on the wealthiest one percent, they should have been the first to lose their inflated salaries, their pensions, their perks. They should not have the right to vote their own salaries or benefits, and their actions should impact them right along with everyone else.

New York has approximately 16,000 nurse practitioners (NPs) across the state. However, all of them are required to have a written collaborative agreement with a physician. As the implementation of Obamacare looms in January 2014, NPs are one solution to provide primary care to the influx on new patients into the system. Nurse practitioners are registered nurses with additional schooling, education, and training. Nurse practitioners have nearly a 50 year history of providing high-quality, patient-centered and cost-effective care. Nurse practitioners can be found across all healthcare settings and write prescriptions, make diagnoses, manage chronic conditions, provide well-care and health promotional efforts. NPs will continue to collaborate with all members of the healthcare team as needed. However, the requirement of the written collaborative agreement is a an unnecessary barrier to practice.

If constructed, the Keystone XL pipeline will carry one of the dirtiest fuels, tar sands oil, which emits three times more greenhouse gases than conventional gasoline production. It will cause earth, air and water pollution and destroy the lives of people, animals, and our precious land. The pipeline will travel more than 1,700 miles through farmland and fragile ecosystems. In the last decade we have had over 2,500 oil spills. Our planet needs our help, please stop the worst climate bomb in world history from exploding. Save the earth for our generation.

President Obama's budget includes cutting the chained CPI in Social Security. I would be personally affected by the cut because it would seriously affect my financial situation and maintaining my household.
