Repeal the Amgen $500 million tax creditIn December 2012 Amgen pleaded guilty to improper marketing of its anemia drug to cancer patients. They agreed to pay a fine of $762 million in a civil settlement and criminal fines. Amgen lobbyists had an idea to inject a $500 million tax credit into the Fiscal Cliff bill with the help of some Senators. There was no rationale in providing this huge tax credit other than politics as usual. The Fiscal Cliff bill passed and Amgen received a non-deserved $500 million tax credit.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Elmo Dunn

Save Social Security: Apply A Fair Tax AllocationMy Petition is about the false choice of cutting Social Security and Medicare when so much income is not subject to Social Security Taxes. When everyone pays, their fair share, there will be no need to cut the Social Security and Medicare benefits of those who have paid into them all their lives.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by BL Davis

Stop Brutal Excessive Force from Correction Officers on Rikers IslandMy son was brutally beaten by correction officers and two captains they beat my son about his head so bad that these officers were trying to kill him, his eyes were shut, head swollen, mouth busted open arm in a sling, when I saw him. This should not happen under any circumstances. These officers are paid highly to take care of inmates, not brutalize them.64 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Teresa Perkins

Governor Brown: Put Public Education FirstPublic education is suffering due to a lack of books, curriculum being cut, such as, physical education, and the arts, and a lack of courses to ensure that all students have access to a good education that will allow them to go to a college or university upon completion of high school. Our children's education should be our top priority, and the budget should reflect that we are a state that cares about our students. I remember when your father was in office as governor and he set education as a high priority. California was first in the nation at that time leading every other state when it came to education. If you follow in your father's footsteps California can lead the nation in education of its students again.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Brenda Hattisburg

Stop The NRA – Appeal Concealed Carry to the Supreme CourtOn February 22, 2013, the federal court in Illinois refused to reconsider its December decision that there is a Second Amendment right to carry concealed weapons in public places. That decision threw out the Illinois law that had banned carrying concealed guns. Fortunately, this decision can now be appealed to the United States Supreme court, because on the same day that the federal court in Illinois announced its decision, a case was decided by the federal court in Colorado that reached the opposite conclusion. The Colorado case held that there is no right under the Second Amendment to carry concealed weapons. When there is a conflict between federal courts, as there is in the Illinois and Colorado cases, the U.S. Supreme Court is the only court that can decide which court decision is correct. But the Supreme Court will not consider the Illinois case unless Lisa Madigan appeals it. In the Illinois case that was just decided, Madigan has already said that based on her analysis of all prior Supreme Court decisions, it is her opinion that states can ban carrying guns in public, as Illinois had done. She should stand by this position and appeal the Illinois case to the Supreme Court. Lisa Madigan is the elected attorney for the people of the State of Illinois. She is the only person who can appeal the decision. If she does not appeal, Illinois will have to allow people to carry loaded guns on the streets and in other public places. Tell Lisa Madigan to represent your desire to have safe streets, to stand behind her legal opinion, and to appeal the case.2,176 of 3,000 SignaturesCreated by Lee Goodman, Stop Concealed Carry Coalition
