Inmate sentencingThis petition is in regards to certain inmates being given a more harsh sentence than others for the same crime; in conjunction with, inmates being oversenteced because of a crime that could have happened and not exactly what happened. My husband was sentenced to life in prison for being in the wrong place at the wrong time..This has destroyed my family and my children has suffered tremendously. Broken homes play a major role in the inflation of the crime rate and I feel the restoration of parents in the home will have a positive affect on our society has a whole.11 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Keyshaundra Johnson

Take your freedom of choice back from the Federal government. When the United States was first founded the Federal Government had two jobs; maintaining roads and national defense. This country was founded on the right for each individual to have the right to practice and express their beliefs freely as long as it doesn't infringe upon the right of others to do the same. The current policies and laws the Federal Government impose on Americans are a disgrace to the foundation of this country. It's time for the people to take their power back!2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Human Love

Tattoos: Should Teens the age of 16 and older get tattoos with parents permission? As the owner of a local tattoo parlor in Dexter, I have had several parents come in wanting their teens to recieve tattoos by professional Artists. Because the State of Maine has a No one under the age 18 shall receive tattoos policy. I see alot of Teens going to people's homes to have tattoos done. Not only are these home environments unclean and unsterile, these teens are getting infectious diseases such as; Mercer, Hepatitis, and even HIV. Tattoos are the "IN Thing" for teens this day and age. Lets change the law to "Teens 16 yrs. of age and older may recieve a tattoo by a professional, licensed parlor, so as long as their parents consent and sign to it." Let's keep our teens from getting un-necessary diseases that could affect their future health.10 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Elizabeth Damron

Connecticut Needs Stronger Gun Control LawsAfter the tragedy in Sandy Hook, the State of Connecticut needs to be a national leader and a beacon of hope by enacting strong and sensible gun control laws. It would be unforgivable to fail to act on this now.36 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Karen Wackerman

An Insurance Mandate for Gun OwnersWhy should gun owners not be required to have liability insurance for their weapons like car owners are for their cars? Save taxpayer dollars and let insurance companies pay for the background checks and keep track of their customers guns and charge for it in the premiums. The insurance should pay for damage regardless of who fires the gun, just like with cars. It would be a start and the premiums on assault rifles and big ammo clips could make them prohibitive to own. Lax gun laws are just more corporate welfare. Use an insurance mandate for gun owners as a way to fight corporate welfare with corporate welfare. For a whole new bunch of new customers, the insurance lobby would probably be willing to contribute to enough congressmen to get it passed as they did with the ACA. Since criminals are less likely to buy the insurance we could probably seize (for lack of proof-of-insurance) a lot of gangsters' guns. Since guns can last hundreds of years, there is no force removing them from circulation which results in their accumulation. This could be a force to decrease the number of weapons on the street. Seized, unclaimed weapons should be melted down.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Hal Slater

I-Pass ReformSince its inception, the Illinois I-Pass program has been run by a nameless 3rd party company that was awarded the contract by the Blagojevich administration. All of these years later, their I-Pass website still features the same crude out of date functionality that prevents I-Pass users from resolving simple issues without a phone call to their customer service center to wait on hold for extended periods, which costs Illinois taxpayers unnecessary funds. In addition, this company's system has also been prone to billing errors whereas they have charged many I-Pass user's credit cards in error. They also hold user's funds as "deposit" for years on end. It's time to bring the Illinois I-Pass system into the 21st Century by opening up the I-Pass contract to bids from other companies who can operate I-Pass more efficiently for less burden on Illinois taxpayers.5 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Tim Chernak
