Petition Against a New Firearms BanThe proposed ban of ‘assault rifles,’ semi-automatics, and 10+ round magazines will only serve to limit the people’s capacity to defend our rights and safety in our local communities. Furthermore it will only serve to provide a higher level of firepower to the criminal community, as well as the local and federal governments, all while limiting the power of the individual citizen – this is unquestionably contrary to all that the founders of this great nation fought for, and provided guarantees against. Any further limitation of firearms to the lawful citizens of America directly upsets the balance that our nation’s architects indomitably granted us, as a free people, the right and obligation to uphold.19 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Mark Robilliard

Raise the minimum wageIf people recieved a living wage taxpayers would not have to subsidize people working for low wages. Companies make large profits because we have to support their workers with food stamps, low income housing, medical and other benefits even though these people are working full time. It would also increase the tax base for the state allowing for better inferstructure, education and police and firemen which all member of the state could benefit from.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Pat Kessler

Stop U.S. Navy plans to kill, permanently injure, or otherwise seriously harm, whales and dolphin...The U.S. Navy is seeking permission to kill, permanently injure, or otherwise seriously harm whales and dolphins more than 31 million times over the next five years throughout Southern California, Hawaii, the Gulf of Mexico, and along the Atlantic Coast, using sonar and other equipment. This staggering and unprecedented amount of harm is the Navy’s own estimate of impacts from its training and testing activities to more than 40 marine mammal species, which can include loss of hearing, maiming or bleeding to death. The Navy is seeking permission to increase the use of this devastating sound and to use it intensively throughout an area the size of the country of Mexico. This is our last opportunity to comment on this proposal. The Navy should not be allowed to inflict harm to marine wildlife! The Navy will use underwater explosions, sinking of ships and active sonar so loud and intense it can seriously harm or kill marine mammals. This sonar alone has been implicated in mass stranding of marine mammals all over the world. Now they are asking to radically increase what they have done in the past, knowing that its activities will kill, maim, and harass millions of marine mammals including 9 species listed under the Endangered Species Act. Maybe you have watched a whale, dolphin, otter, seal or other marine mammal, in the wild, or seen "Flipper" or other cetaceans on TV. Possibly you have dreamed of swimming with them one day. If this is so, you know in your heart we must do everything we can to protect them. We know how special they are and why we are in such awe of them. We cannot allow this travesty to occur in our oceans when we have the ability to stop or minimize this damage. Fortunately, there is the possibility to minimize the damage by taking action right now. The National Marine Fisheries Service's job is to protect marine mammals and endangered species. With your signature, we will let them know we are watching, we are expecting them to do their job, and we are not going to tolerate this mass destruction in our oceans. By law the Fisheries Service has to let the public comment on its preliminary decision. We have until March 11, 2013. It has never been more important than it is right now for all of us to act. Grandparents Visitation Rights in IllinoisGrandparents' Visitation Rights in the state of IL (750 ILCS) Section 607 should be amended to allow: (F) Biological grandparents and/or other immediate biological family members should have the unconditional right to maintain a relationship with grandchildren, except in cases of abuse or neglect by either the parent or grandparent. Current state and federal law Illinois Supreme Court on Grandparents' Rights(750 ILCS) Section 607 should prohibit: (1) Parents from the unjust denial of visitation and/or communication between children and their grandparents and/or other biological relatives as outlined and specified above. (2) In cases in which the parent unjustly denies communication or visitation between a child and their grandparent or other biological relative, rather than immediately siding with the parent, the court should appoint a guardian ad litem to evaluate the situation in order to determine whether or not the parent's action are truly in the best interest of the child;or whether they are in fact detrimental to the child's overall well-being and physical and emotional development. (3) In cases such as this, the guardian ad litem should have extensive interactions and conversations with all parties involved including, parents, grandparents, and other biological relatives as well as the child. The findings of the guardian ad litem should be considered by the court before any decisions are made regarding visitation and/or communication between the child and their grandparents and/or other biological relatives.8 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Christine and Amy Outland

National Standards for National electionsThe election of 2012 demonstrated how the current state controlled system can be manipulated to disenfranchise and inconvenience many voters. Leaving redisticting to the states allows gerrymandering to occur whch can favor a party or an incumbent unfairly (i.e. the 2012 congressional election in which one party won a majority of the popular vote but the other party won more seats).20 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Robert Slifkin

Justice4AllThe United States incarcerates more people than all the other developed nations combined! It's Prison Nation, not the Beloved Country. We have 40,000 prisoners in AZ prisons and uncounted more in Federal detention centers for illegal immigrants. The AZ Dept of Corrections(DOC) costs One Billion Dollars in our state budget! That number is ever increasing as money for education is decreasing. Funds could be spent better if activists, politicians, teachers, prison guards, families of prisoners, WE work together for a cheaper, yet more humane, justice system in Arizona. Did you know that most convicts return to prison soon after their release (recidivism)? All they know is crime. How about rehabilitation? A Second Chance! NO, Instead, many times the convict spends years in isolation, even if the person has a severe mental illness! They are brutalized by the system and by each other. How can we expect them to change? How can we get them to become respectable, contributing members of society? The community will be safer! Crime rates go down! The AZ legislature opened January 31st and is now arguing about the budget. A perfect time to lobby for reasoning together. . Tell your friends to sign on for prison reform campaigns! Study the issue. Start a discussion at church. Read the book, "Jim Crow Nation", published last year. Write or visit a prisoner. Many avenues to follow, hopefully many followers to come.7 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Louise DeWald
