Oregon Department of Agriculture has approved 2,500 acres of GMO canola in the Willamette Valley. Many Oregonian are upset and want their voice to be heard on the subject. That is why I created this petition, as simple reminder for all our elected officials that Oregonians want to ban GMOs.

Do you know that Vermont has lost more than a hundred children and youths since 1987 due to gun-related accidental shootings or suicide? These losses might have been prevented if the guns they had access to had been locked away or safely stored by adult gun owners. Under current Vermont law, if a child gains access to a firearm that has been left unsecured carelessly by its owner, and then uses that firearm to injure another person or him/herself, the owner is NOT in any way held responsible. The proposed legislation H.243 aims to encourage safe storage of firearms in homes where children are present or may visit. A firearm owner in such a circumstance could be held responsible and charged with negligence resulting in harm. Penalties for reckless storage of a gun in these cases could include a fine or imprisonment, with provisional compassion being extended to the owner if the individual harmed with the weapon was his/her own family member. Legislation like H.243 exist in 28 states in the United States, and have saved many children and youths’ lives. We need to make Vermont the 29th state to better protect our own children.

I have several friends & one family member who have been arrested one or more times simply for the petty possession of marijuana. This harmless drug is putting the wrong citizens in jail for all the wrong reasons.

The right for same sex marriage.

The programs like Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Food Stamps, etc. helps those of us especially when we are in need. We cannot ignore the elderly, all of us at one point will age and in need of these programs, too. Food stamps are great to have available in case their is a need, everyone participates into putting money into these programs in case we ever need some help. I personally will be retiring this year, and look forward to getting funds that I put into it for the years I worked...I also want to live the remainder of my retired years without having to worry how I am going to pay my bills.

The people services that is already in place, e.g., social security, medicare, food stamp, etc., should be protected and their should be NO cuts on these programs. I have applied for jobs, still waiting on one, my husband collecting unemployment, we are going by due to getting food stamps, which it helps greatly until our situation gets better. We will be retiring this year, and our health is deteriorating not getting better..we hope to have funds available to be able to retire without having to worry on our circumstances.

When the mass murder occured in Conncecticut it was the final straw. Every mass shooting is appalling, but 20 kindergarteners & first graders litterally vaporized by an assault weapon.....we MUST insist on banning assault weapons and their multi round ammunition magazines. We are planning to deliver the petition to Congressman Lattas' office in Bowling Green on March 7th at 2:00pm

We are being poisoned by the foods we are being offered in our stores. Through the Genetically Modified Organisms we are being poisoned. This particularly affects children through their health and behaviors.

Reguirements of proof of weapon registration and background checks for purchase of ammunition; clearance of eligibility to make purchases; registration of all purchases into data bank used for checks. The focus is upon what is possible to regulate. Obviously, restriction of gun ownership and possession is not feasible, but control of ammunition is feasible to regulate. At 72 years old, I am tired of excuses and no courage to address a problem that has reached a national crisis and denial continues from NRA and greedy weapons industry.

Acrobatic gymnastics is a sport that thousands of athletes compete in worldwide, however, it is not yet a part of the Olympic Games. These athletes work just as hard, yet are under-funded and under-appreciated because they cannot hold an Olympic title. Help these talented athletes get the appreciation and funding they deserve by telling the USOC to include acrobatic gymnastics in the Olympics.

NYC Mayor Bloomberg has attacked the police and fire unions, mass transit union, public school teachers union and now the school bus unions. He told the governor of NY, Andrew Cuomo, to veto the very same job protection provision the mayor included in the contract he sent to the governor to sign. Why did the governor allow a mayor to tell him what to do? Now the mayor is claiming the protection is illegal and refuses to be involved in the labor dispute. The mayor wants to cut school bus runs so successful workers would be laid off every year, then recreate runs so bus companies could rehire the laid off workers as new drivers at beginner salaries, the protection prevents this sneaky deed. The NYC Council, NYC Comptroller, the police and transportation unions, sand parents of students are all against the the mayor's actions. We need to tell this governor to stand up against this malicious mayor and protect the modest middle class jobs in his state, which is the promised he made to New Yorkers when he ran for governor.

I am starting this petition, because I am sick of the life-time politicians we have in Congress. Congress continues to act as if the people don't matter, and only do things when it benefits them. The amount of rotation in Congress is at an all-time low, due to peoples disenchantment of our system. I believe if there were shorter terms and no life-time politicians for Lobbyist to corrupt, Congress might do more for the people that voted them into Office.
