• Save an American Pastor from Iranian Abuse and Imprisonment
Iran is imprisoning and abusing an American pastor because of his faith. Iran, home of one of the world’s most radical Islamic regimes, is holding American Pastor Saeed Abedini because he is a Christian, refusing to release him, and subjecting him to unspeakable abuse. We are launching an international campaign to free Pastor Saeed, and we need Americans to mobilize for religious liberty. Urge the President, the State Department, and every Member of Congress to take a stand for an American Christian. Petition to Free American Pastor Saeed Abedini To: President Obama, the Secretary of State, and the United States Congress Iran’s radical and violent jihadist regime is persecuting an American pastor for exercising his fundamental right to religious freedom. The United States cannot tolerate such assaults on its own citizens. Take all available diplomatic and legislative action to pressure Iran to respect religious freedom and release Pastor Saeed.

  • Stop taking money from the NRA
The National Rifle Association, which used to be concerned primarily with gun safety, has turned into a tool for gun manufacturers to manipulate our legislators to their own benefit. And we the people are suffering for it. It's time to STOP the NRA and start protecting OURSELVES!

  • Equal Pay for Equal Work at UM
Lecturers and professors at the University of Michigan teach the same courses with no evidence of any difference in the quality of their teaching. Students pay the same amount of tuition for a course, regardless of who teaches it. Yet lecturers are paid significantly less for their teaching than professors are. (For additional information, visit the website http://www.leounion.org and read the report "Teaching Equality.")

  • Car Moving, Lights On
There are too many people who seem to think that if they can see other cars, it's OK for their lights not to be on ... even when it's raining or dark. The present rules for having lights on in New Jersey are unenforceably complicated and imprecise.

  • Combat veterans against civilian ownership of assault weapons
I need combat veterans to speak out against civilian ownership of assault weapons. We have seen what these weapons do to the human body. There is no viable reason to own one. They belong only in the hands of the military and law enforcement. This petion is to be signed by combat veterans only

  • Stop Big Banks From Getting Tax Break On Foreclosure Abuse Deal
U.S. mortgage lenders will benefit in a deal to settle charges that they wrongfully foreclosed on many homeowners. Under the deal, 12 mortgage lenders will pay more than $9 billion to compensate hundreds of thousands of people whose homes were seized improperly, a result of abuses such as "robo-signing." That's when banks automatically approved foreclosures without properly reviewing documents. Taxpayers will end up subsidizing them for the settlement money they will have to pay. The Internal Revenue Service regards the lenders' compensation to homeowners as a cost incurred in the course of doing business. Result: It's fully tax-deductible.

  • Don't Tell Apple: Reject the NRA's New Shooting App
The app, released for free on the Apple iTunes store Sunday, provides news and information for the organization, but also includes a 3D shooting simulation that the gun advocacy group says “ instills safe and responsible ownership through fun challenges and realistic simulations.” Gamers can choose between 3 environments including a skeet shoot and 9 firearms, but further weapon upgrades can be bought for $0.99. The current top in-game purchases are the Colt Pistol along with two sniper rifles, the MK11 and Dragunov SVD. The app’s main menu provides information for gun safety, NRA news, hunting season and relevant legislation. The official description claims the app “strikes the right balance of gaming and safety education, allowing you to enjoy the most authentic experience possible.’ Read more: http://www.foxnews.com/tech/2013/01/15/nra-releases-3d-shooter-game-for-people-4-and-up/#ixzz2ILoYE0zS

  • STAND WITH PRESIDENT OBAMA FOR BETTER GUN CONTROL LAWS
Our local primary school received a threatening telephone call the week after the massacre that took place at Sandy Hook school in Newton. My 5 year old granddaughter is a student at our Dyersburg Primary School and I was pleased with the professionalism, care and concern from all our First Responders along with the care and professionalism by the Administration and all employees of the DPS. Our Governor and state legislators want armed guards and/or staff in our schools and I believe that's a bad idea.
