FOX news has been spewing hatred, lies and deceit for many years. Recently, an Indiana man was convicted of arson for setting fire to a mosque in Ohio. The man specifically stated that he was motivated by media accounts, mostly from FOX news, and that he felt no remorse in setting the fire. If I am not mistaken, this is a hate crime, a hate crime driven by the poisonous and contagious lies and conventional "wisdom" supplied by this media outlet.

Income taxes are a deterrent to economic prosperity and the 16th admendment that allows income taxes needs to be repealed. Without income taxes everyonoe would have more money to spend and large companies would flock to the USA to build factories and improve our economy. A national sales tax would generate enough money for the government as it now gets from income taxes and the price of retail goods would remain about the same since from manufactures, to wholesalers to retail stores could make the same net profit since they would not have to account for income taxes in their calculations. This would be fair since those that spend the most would pay the most in taxes, there would be no loopholes, US companies could better compete with foreign companies and people that visit the USA would support our economy when they purchase things in the states. .

I am tired of republicans insisting that the way out of this recession is to further concentrate wealth in the hands of the wealthy. They won't spend it and haven't so far. Why do they insist on pushing these policies? Because of political contributions, obviously.

What are we afraid of? Purportedly the 3 founding principles of our Democratic Republic are "Liberty, Equality and Justice", Right? So, why isn't the word "Equality" included into the last line of the Pledge of Allegiance?

IUHUH fired eight employees after they refused mandatory flu shots. The hospital prioritized a controversary immunization to prevent the spread of influenza over an employee's right to refuse certain medical procedures. These employees had the right to refuse their flu shots under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits religious discrimination of employees.

Our society has become overly dangerous due to the wide-spread availability of high-capacity firearms with easily insert-able magazines. I just don't feel safe going to the shopping mall, the movie theater, sporting events, or frankly any place where anyone can carry these weapons. All magazine-loaded firearms should be banned from our society.

Refusing to raise the debt ceiling is not a tool it is treason. No government money should go to states whose congress people refuse to raise the debt ceiling or who even use the debt ceiling as a weapon to get their way. Their states should help pay the unnecessary extra interest rate costs they would cause.

It was shocking after the Bill was passed to avoid the "fiscal cliff" it had billions in Pork attached.

Several children of family members and friends have been afflicted with drug abuse. They started as early as high school and by the time parents found out they were over 18. Current laws do not allow parents to force their children into rehab or to force them to get any kind of help. Parents are completely helpless and no authority or law exists to address this problem. Authorities get involved only if the individual commits a crime. As everyone knows, once a person uses drugs, they lose all sensibility and the ability to think logically. So, it is literally impossible for them to get to a point where they want to or are willing to get help. So, this becomes a completely helpless situation. The afflicted individual will not seek help and the parents have no legal means to force their child to get help. Parents are often left standing by helplessly to see their children distroy their life or die.

As a current New York resident and former resident of Long Beach and Staten Island -- areas hard hit by Hurricane Sandy -- I believe that Republican members of the House of Representatives need to apologize today for putting their ideology and re-election ambitions ahead of their concern for the Americans who have recently suffered and continue to suffer from the recent storm. The refusal to vote on House Speaker Boehner's Plan B and to vote for $60 Billion for states affected by Hurricane Sandy is clear evidence where their priorities lay.
