• DISSOLVE HOUSE AND CONGRESS
To dissolve House and Congress. What have they done for all Americans during this emergency regarding the Fiscal cliff ? As far as I know, during the last four weeks they have left Washington either on Wednesday or Thursday and come back the following week on Mondays to make plans to leave again in two or three days later. They make around $ 200,000.00/year, with first class health benefits. This is the reason they do not care for the rest of Americans

  • TERM LIMITS FOR CONGRESS
The President is limited to 2 terms. Many states and municipalities now have term limits for state and local offices. This reduces the likelihood of elected officials who establish themselves as a dynasty, complete with a full retinue of lobbyists, rigid agendas or positions, and an increasing inability to compromise to make good laws. The U.S. Congress needs people willing to serve, compromise, make difficult but necessary choices, then return to private life. There is no indication that "experience" from holding an office for decades produces better legislation or outcomes. The past 50 years show the opposite, particularly with regard to Congress' inability to act on a huge number of critical issues due to politicians' fear of taking a stand that might affect their upcoming election.

  • 2012 Election:Clear the air
To call for a complete investigation ot the 2012 election: 1) Was funding for boths side 'legal' ? 2) Was their 'voter suppression' or NOT? 3) Were the obvious attempts to 'smear' candidates ... and did those effort stay within the law? These, and other questions NEED to looked at and answered ... with an eye to - in the future - enforce existing Fed. Laws, OR to create enforsable Fed Laws and Regulations as needed.

  • Freedom from religion act
Since our political leaders seem to be disregarding "separation of Church and State" and are attempting to impose their religious ideology on all of us I feel it is time to create a "freedom from religion" clause to our Constitution. This amendment to the US Constitution would bar any party from introducing any legislation that reflects their religious viewpoint.

  • Strengthen Social Security
In light of the slow collapse of employer-based retirement systems, Americans face a serious retirement shortfall. Individually-based savings are inherently inefficient for several reasons. First, each individual must save for their maximum expected retirement, while a social plan only needs to save for average life expectancy, which is shorter. Second, individuals must invest their money in financial instruments, while Social Security can be invested in the economy as a whole, including productive public investments that are not traded on financial markets. Third, individuals must save enough to cover cyclical downturns, while Social Security can ride those out, counting on eventual recovery. Fourth, individuals must rely on expensive financial advisors and intermediaries such as banks, mutual funds or Wall Street traders, while Social Security is far cheaper to administer. For these reasons, we need to run a larger part of our retirement system through Social Security. This petition seeks to link Social Security to growth in the economy and make it our primary retirement system. At the same time, it seeks to reduce the political manipulation of the system by reducing the planning horizon to a more realistic distance.

  • Food Stamps are Hurting Our Kids
The food stamp program currently allows parents to purchase harmful items such as sodas, candies, chips, and other substances that serve no nutritional purpose and consume a large percentage of their cash benefit. These items also promote obesity in children and can even lead to childhood diabetes. Although I believe in helping others who are hungry, we need to do it in a way that actually helps our citizens and maximizes the tax dollars given to food relief.

  • Voting Rights for felons who are us citizens in and out side of Prisons
Its very unconstitutional for the rights of felons to vote be taken away. Due to a conviction. This fundimental right is guarinteed by the Constitution of the United States. Legeslators have Alieanated convicts making it imposable for them to make a valid choice to vote. Something should be enacted to give these rights back to these American citizens.

  • Let Us Keep All of the Kensington Plaza Benches!
On Thursday, December 6th, 2012, Community Board 12 held a public transportation committee meeting to address a petition asking the the benches be removed from Kensington Plaza. The committee, decided not to take immediate action, and that they would revisit the matter in April of 2013. However, not even two weeks later, at the CB 12 meeting on December, 18th, CB 12 voted to recommend the immediate removal of two of the benches. This decision by CB 12, is unfair and not in the interest of the broader Kensington Community.
