Chained- CPI

Please DO NOT sacrifice the futures of millions of us ordinary citizens, who have paid our fair share, all of our working lives, into Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, and other social responsibility programs, in order to save a tiny portion of this country's wealthiest from having to pay THEIR FAIR SHARE. We ARE entitled to receive the benefits we have earned, we, our children, and our grandchildren. We are not receiving these benefits "FOR FREE." We are NOT "sponging" off of the government or any of our citizens! By paying Social Security/ FICA payroll taxes, we have been paying for our retirement and the possibility of becoming disabled by "self-insuring", all these years. We have earned these benefits through hard work, disciplined budgeting, and "doing without, now" in order to save for the future. These proposed cuts MUST be stopped!

Don't you think it's time we ditched the 2nd Amendment?

Way too many people get angry, and then go out and shoot up random places. A key element in these incidents is the ability of the murderer to use high-capacity (20+ rounds) clips. If they were unable to get the clips, then fewer people would die, as the murderer would have to swap out clips more often, and under stress it is harder to swap out a clip. Hollywood makes it look easy, but there are many things that can go wrong with a clip. A lesser capacity of the clip would help ensure fewer deaths from these insane murderers.

My daughter Ashtyn attends a public elementary school, where good behavior is rewarded with candy and pop. Daily, children ages 5 and up are given skittles, m & m's, tootsie rolls, and suckers for expected behaviors like walking quietly, turning in homework, or listening to the teacher.

The second amendment is the centerpiece of our freedom and liberty. Questioning the validity of the Second Amendment is not an option. It is because of the Second Amendment that we have enjoyed freedom and prosperity for more than two centuries. Without the second amendment our country loses its immunity to a fully Soviet style socialist structure. There are many living and enjoying the freedoms of this nation who at the same time would love to see a Soviet style communist socialist dictatorship established in this nation. This is the number one threat to our way of life right now. The job of public officials including Senate and Congress and sheriffs and police is to defend the Constitution. Selling out to the globalists and internationalists who want to create a communist government in America is not an option.

Since baseball bats are used in more murders than guns are, and seeing all the support for gun control, it is high time we make legislation to control and regulate the sale of baseball bats. We seek to mandate training and intrusive background checks before anyone is allowed to purchase or possess a baseball bat.

I am 55 and disabled and need every penny. I get a raise and Medicare premiums go up, and now a reduction in the pay raise too! Please do not punish us for electing Mr. Obama. I guarantee if my benefits are cut, I will vote the other party, down the line. Stop messing with the seniors and the disabled.

This petition is to demand that U.S. Senators support Sen. Tom Harkin's proposal on filibuster reform, under which legislation can be slowed down, but not kept from the U.S. Senate floor, by the supermajority requirement. The GOP has misused the filibuster rule to block not only tax reform and jobs bills, but judicial nominations as well.

We have mass shootings and senseless acts of crime, broken relationships everywhere, people walking around hurt and uncared for, but we also have the nerve to ask where God is in all of this. We kicked Him out of our country, remember?! It's time to put Him back and if last Friday was not a wake-up call enough to do that, then we are asking for more trouble.

Barack Obama is willing to cut social security by using a chained CPI which would lower cost of living adjustments for seniors, even though seniors who have the highest cost of living increases since their major expenses are high drug prices for illnesses that they have. If no deal is made, all Bush era tax cuts expire, and all tax rate go back to what they were during the Clinton era. The payroll tax holiday would expire, and automatic cuts to the pentagon's budget would go into effect. None of these things would be bad. Besides, social security has nothing to do with the deficit.
