Since 1968 the National Rifle Association has been actively promoting the undermining of laws governing the regulation of firearms and has acted publicly and within its organization to promote domestic violence and terrorism by the policies it backs.

I am very concerned about the budget impasse and the looming fiscal cliff---the intransigence of our political leaders in not listening to constituents--but---especially to be responsible and accountable as elected representatives--to all constituents--not just their party--and to resolve issues which are compromising our democracy in a collaborative manner.

World War II (when there was one nuclear armed nation) and the Cold War (when there were two nations armed with nuclear weapons and pledged to mutual assured destruction, "MAD") are now history. Here is the current status of nuclear weapons: 4,400 active nuclear warheads owned by 8 nations. Five of these (France, China, United Kingdom, Russia and United States) are signatories to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) in which they pledged to work toward the elimination of these weapons. Three nuclear-armed nations are not covered by the NPT (Israel, India and Pakistan). Other nations are suspected to be acquiring nuclear weapons (North Korea, Iran). Also, there are terrorists who might like to have a nuclear weapon in their arsenel. It is time to forever ban (not just limit the number) the possession of nuclear weapons. Use of tactical (tiny) nuclear weapons or strategic (big) nuclear weapons in a regional conflict have unimaginable consequences...and yet military strategists in each of the nuclear nations have scenarios for just such use. President Obama has stated his desire to eliminate nuclear weapons and he has just been given another 4 years to govern. Let's support him in convening a treaty-writing conference to eliminate all nuclear weapons with ENFORCEABLE inspection and verification by a strengthened United Nations body.

it is hard enough for middle and lower class people to live now. cost of living is hard to live anymore . many are loosing their homes already or have someone live with them to be able to keep their home . that is sad, work all your life and can not afford to live alone if you choose. now there is not much choice for many.I am on soc. sec. disability. I am making under $ 1200.00 MONTHLY. and I worked for nearly 28 years in a factory.I feel bad for the one's who make even less than I do. Father God is protecting me. I have no health insurance through medicare yet. I do not know why we have to wait 25 months before we qualify for soc.sec. medical benefits.I am blessed with a Christian Doctor who Loves people and don't charge me for his services a lot of times.medication is another issue of its own.many of us take medications. my sister went without her medicine for fibromyalgia .she could not afford it.I gave her the money for her doctor so she could pay the bill so she bought her prescription . she takes many other scrips also. and she is on soc.sec. waiting for her time to be up so she will at least have insurance. we do not understand why we have to wait 25 months to get medicare in the first place. so if they lower our soc.sec. regular money and other people,that would not be a good idea at all.WHEN WE WILL RECEIVE SOC.SEC. MEDICAL WE WILL LOOSE THE AMOUNT FOR THE MEDICAL OUT OF OUR CHECKS . SO WE WILL LOOSE $100. OR MORE OF REGULAR PAY. MAKING IT HARDER TO LIVE. Our Father God loves us all. we need more people to trust Jesus and follow Father God. when we truly have FAITH and follow Jesus he will be waiting. he wants our country to be a Great Nation. he wants us to pray For our President Obama even if we don't care for him as a President we must pray that he will makes the correct decisions. if we all pray as a nation, miracles will begin to happen in our Government. pray that those opposed will have a change of heart and realize we need soc. sec. to prosper always.. we the people of the united states need to petition and pray a lot more than what we have in the past many years. remember our mighty country used to believe IN GOD WE TRUST ! WHAT HAPPENED TO U.S.A. TO MANY BELIEVE HOWEVER, DON'T FOLLOW WHAT JESUS SAYS. SAD ! PLEASE TRY TO FOLLOW JESUS, HE IS THE WAY,TRUTH AND LIFE. YOU CAN NOT FOLLOW PART WAY AND EXPECT ANSWERS ! I TRIED THAT. GOD IS LOVE. PRAY WE WILL ALL BE TAKEN CARE OF.,LISTEN TO WHAT C H R I S T WANTS OF YOU. YOU WILL GO FAR ! FATHER GOD'S BLESSINGS TO US ALL ! If it were known that the penalty for using a gun in a crime were life in prison - fewer perpetrators would risk using these weapons when committing a crime.

Start a sustainable community.

I have a disturbed and periodically violent grandson who had to be sent from his home state of Washington, devoid of any residential schools for kids with mental illness, to one of the few facilities for kids like him in NM. There should be facilities everywhere for these kids so that the massacres which have occurred in recent years will be greatly diminished.

Waiting for buses on the q5 route is a real pain; they do not come often and when they do, they come bunched together. There is no accountability. I could find better use for my time and it would probably help the economy as most people would spend more time shopping. Geneva Switzerland is a good model if the MTA needs ideas.

Push our progressive leaders and media types to stop using the pharse "Gun Control" legislation. No one wants to be controled; even NRA members are for gun safety. It is all about preception. I believe more people would be open to dialog if it were "ALWAYS" termed Gun Safety guidelines when pushing the policy debate.
