The December 14, 2012 school massacre in Newtown CT is only the most recent of an increasingly violent series of tragedies in our Country. Innocent children and adults have been slaughtered. It is time to state unequivocally that the Government of the United States of America enact permanent, immediate effect legislation to ban the sale and ownership of assault weapons and extended ammunition magazines.

Please Note: The following is a pledge, that you, the reader, are asked to take. While we must hold our elected officials accountable, I believe that each and every one of us is responsible to the extent we do not take action. Congress may restrict constitutional rights if necessary to protect the general public health and welfare. It is blatantly obvious that Congress must act to protect the public from the increasing incidences of mass casualties from gun violence. In order to motivate Congress to act, I am asking every citizen to take a pledge to not vote for any elected official who does not take a meaningful position in favor of gun control, either through support of legislation or a Constitutional Amendment.

Our children are dying at a rampant rate and we continue to pass laws and build fortresses to protect them. Please let's put Prayer back in our schools as another assured way to protect our children!

The proposed Jenni Rivera Law states : " All passengers of airplanes, be it public or private must be provided upon request before ticket is purchased or flight contracted for, complete details of year make and model of airplane, its crash / incident history, its repair and maintenance history and its mileage. Also to be provided is crash history of other planes of the same make and model. Furthermore, airline manufacturers are to provide in the report a recommend mileage / year lifespan of each plane model they have sold and how often what type of maintenance should be undertaken. " IN ADDITION: " Backgrounds on pilots are to be provided specifically in regards to their age, experience, performance and any disciplinary action. " " Falsification of aviation records must be made a serious felony and the guilty company and its officer/s of the corporation or business entity should be permanently banned from the aviation industry. "

Gun control in response to Connecticut shooting.

Foreclosure rights should be removed from Homeowners’ Associations and they be made to use other methods used by several business and organizations, including local governments. Homestead protections and laws do not provide for an exemption in an HOA foreclosure. Is the establishment of planned communities, so important to the security of this country that it needs special assistance, special laws, that permit the loss of constitutional protections of one's private property rights?

This petition is in response to today's tragic killing of 27 people , 20 of which were children. I have also been affected by gun violence with my father a hard working entrepreneur that was murdered during a robbery of his business. It's time for the NRA to change it's stance because the NRA heavily influences our elected officials decision making on this topic.

Stop Gun Violence.

Today 20 children and six adults were murdered in their school in Newtown, CT. Last week it was a mall in Portland, OR. Before that a movie theater in Aurora, CO. How many times do these mass murders, or for that matter, individual murders, have to take place before we pass a ban on assault weapons in this country? Yes, people committed these heinous crimes, but they committed them with hand guns and assault weapons. We need a national ban on assault weapons and much stronger controls on hand guns NOW!

Implementing gun laws to stop the madness of gun massacres in our schools and public places.

CEO's are making millions of dollars, Corporations are making billions of dollars a year. The people at the bottom such as cashiers,cooks, service reps that are dealing with the public are bringing in the revenue and keeping money in your pockets. It is not the job of the Government to give your employees Medical Assistance. It is also not the Governments job to give your employees food stamps to feed their families. Share the wealth and be fair to the employees that are helping you keep your job.

The tragic multiple murders at an elementary school in Connecticut are fresh in our hearts, but they have become an all too regular occurrence. It is time for our leaders to stand against the powerful gun lobby and ask: Do you really believe the ability to own an assault weapon is more important than the ability to protect our children?
