With the stagnant atmosphere of congress in the past few decades, the divisiveness and inability the act in the best interest of the nation as a whole, I submit this idea for your consideration from Warren Buffet as a way to regain control of the politicians we send to act in our interest in Washington, and to regain control of OUR GOVERNMENT before we reach a point of no return. "Warren Buffett, in a recent interview with CNBC, offers one of the best quotes about the debt ceiling: "I could end the deficit in 5 minutes," he told CNBC. "You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election. The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971 - before computers, e-mail, cell phones, etc. Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took one (1) year or less to become the law of the land - all because of public pressure. Warren Buffet is asking each addressee to forward this email to a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise. In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed around."

The federal government has the authority to set the election rules for all states in regards to federally elected officials. Creating and implementing federal rules for federally elected officials will go a long way towards eliminating the voter suppression we saw in too many states this past election.

Washington-based Boeing recently announced that it would deny same-sex couples the spousal survivor pension benefits that straight couples are entitled to -- even to same-sex couples legally married under Washington's new law. Boeing made $4 billion in profits last year. They can afford equality. All workers and their families deserve to be treated fairly. Boeing must provide the same spousal benefits to the families of all lawfully married employees.

It's time to have a woman as the Secretary of the Treasury, and there's no one more qualified than Shelia Bair. As a Republican, her appointment would reach across the aisle. As an expert in banking, she knows the ropes. As a woman of integrity, she has an would continue to hold Wall Street's feet to the fire.

Time to start working together and stop being divided to bring this country back together. We the American citizens are the ones suffering.

Congress should have the same benefits as Americans. They should not have their own pension plans, medical insurance, and should not have more than 2 weeks vacation like the general public. They think they are above everyone else and laws don't apply to them.

While we get data each week on how America's business community is doing re productivity...how about an ongoing analysis of the biggest most inefficient, highly paid, business of all: Government state and federal?? How many hours are they working? How many vacation days? What other perks do they give themselves that do not add to their productivity?

Stop the grid lock in Washington DC. We have you elected as well as pay you in Congress to do a job. The legislative branch, as a whole, is charged with passing the nation's laws and allocating funds for the running of the federal government and providing assistance to the 50 U.S. states. Do your job or resign and let someone that is really interested in moving this country forward.

With the Fiscal Cliff "talks" going nowhere fast and the President holding his ground, taxes will go up on everyone, entitlement programs will be hit, etc. Instead of having talks that go nowhere or passing a note back and forth only to get shot down...tell the President he should hold his, congress' and the senate's pay checks hostage. Why should anyone be compensated for a job that isn't being done?

In Nebraska, two non-married people cannot adopt a child, no matter how qualified they are. Without this possibility in our state, so many children and families are being kept from valuable resources and getting denied being legally acknowledged as a family.
