Once again, Mount Tom -- not only an icon of the Connecticut River Valley but one of Massachusetts' most important natural areas -- is being treated as a potential site for intensive commercial development. Multi-story, brightly-lit buildings and overwhelming traffic should never despoil this keystone of the area's landscape, outdoor recreation, wildlife corridor, and rare species habitat -- a decades-long focus of local, state, federal, and non-profit land conservation efforts.

Walmart forces the government to subsidize their payroll by keeping wages so low that employees need food stamps and Medicaid just to survive. Even Walmart's website says, "We’ve worked hard to build an environment that emphasizes integrity, respect, open communication and innovation. Whether it’s a part-time job or the career of a lifetime, working at Walmart means opportunity." Walmart should live up to their word and give employees the opportunity to live free from government aid.

Anonymous Banks ,who sale Bank foreclosure homes that do not properly show personal Identification to sell ,without legal identification, scriptures and Property of ownership with a statement of said Home for sale, should not be aloud nor permitted to sell a home. If a loan buyer has no information of the Bank who is making the sale of the home get cut in this wrong act, The buyer is the person who may loose everything. The person who buys that home may be in jeopardy having problems and possibly penalties. If the buyer does not know that, that seller had the wrong ID, who sold them the home. May loose the loan money, the house and may even go to jail because there was no legal authority present when the Foreclosure seller did the sale .All buyers should be protected from these frauds they should be protected from Banks who do not use proper documentation and Identification to make foreclosure sales homes. Republican's can't cross the aisle to help move our Country forward. Republicans must break Norquist's insane hold on their party. More Republicans must put their country before someone else's agenda, and their Pledge of Allegiance before "The Pledge" to Norquist.

The middle class has bail out the banks and big business. We deserve a bail out. The country requires the middle class support for finances. The wealthy class should be willing to support this country by doing it fair share of the burden. They have reaped all the profits on the backs of others. In Texas, we should be expanding the right to vote, not restricting it. For this reason, we want our state legislature to pass a bill that will allow voter registration on the same date that elections are held in Texas.

Recently, I was sent a picture via Facebook of a pickup loaded with various articles, a boy who appeared to be about 12 years old was riding back there with saw horses, etc. I found out later, there was a car seat in the bed of the truck also with a toddler in it. Several years ago there was a death in Stephen County when a toddler bounced out of a pickup as it crossed over a railroad track at too fast speed. The baby was killed. I cannot believe there is still no law in this county to prevent something so horrible.

The Ugandan government is just days away from adopting a draconian law criminalizing homosexuality. Gay and lesbian Ugandans could face life in prison or even the death penalty. Evangelical mega-church pastor Rick Warren has traveled to Uganda and preached against homosexuality and one of the Ugandan pastors who's led the fight for this horrific bill has spoken at Warren's conferences in the United States. So the last time the "Anti-Homosexuality Bill" was introduced in Uganda, human-rights activists successfully pressured Rick Warren into taking a public stand against the law. Faced with mounting international criticism, the Uganda government backed down -- until now. But this time around, Rick Warren is remaining conspicuously silent about the situation in Uganda, despite giving a number of high-profile interviews on other subjects. At a time when his voice could help save the lives of LGBT Ugandans, he's on CNN comparing being gay to giving in to a temptation to "punch a guy in the nose."
