Arts for All KidsAs a teacher for 20 years, I have seen how the curriculum offered to most children has narrowed over that time. Many California children have no instruction in dance, music, theatre or visual arts in their schools. The California state legislature can help turn the tide on this issue by explicitly instructing the California Department of Education and school districts throughout California to 1. hold schools accountable for providing arts instruction to all students and 2. affirmatively state that state and federal categorical funds can and should be used to support standards-based arts instruction.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Carolyn McKnight

Hit the Mute ButtonIf viewers refuse to watch campaign commercials, the influence of big money will wane in politics. We know from the past election that money can't buy you elective office. Now the people who are spending it will get the message26 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Jim Kaplan

Employment age discriminationIt is supposed to be illegal for employers to discriminate against age. Yet every online application now has a non optional request for the year you graduated high school. This immediately identifies your age and allows the employer to screen applicants on the basis of age.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by gin rinehart

Stop Kentucky Utility From Increasing RatesKentucky Utilities has proposed to increase its electric rates across all classes of customers in order to generate an additional $82.4 million in revenue per year. KU estimates that with their increase in fees the average bill, approx. $95.00 would rise by $7.41 to $99.71. Most of this increase would come from raising the monthly service charge from $8.50 to $13. The charge per kilowatt-hour (a kilowatt-hour is the amount of electricity used by a 100-watt light bulb in 10 hours) would be raised from 6.987 cents to 7.235 cents. KU and LG&E say the base rate increases are needed to pay for upgrades to electric transmission and distribution systems, improvements at electric generating facilities and the hiring of additional employees, particularly in its customer service operation. The companies also cited increased costs to comply with tighter federal cyber security standards. How necessary are these fees? Who would get these jobs? Let your voice be heard: Written comments will be accepted at the meeting. There is only one meeting left, but you can still write to the address below. Written comments also may be mailed to the PSC at P.O. Box 615, Frankfort, KY 40602, faxed to 502-564-9625. Paul Krugman for Secretary of TreasuryPaul Krugman is a Nobel Prize winning economist whose views consistently prove to be correct. Most recently he argued that in the current Republican manufactured budget crisis "No deal is better than a bad deal." Mitch McConnell and John Boehner continue to run the same game plan they had before the election. President Obama must be smarter than Charlie Brown and refuse to try to kick the political football again. We need Paul Krugman at Treasury.180 of 200 SignaturesCreated by James E Townsend

The Promise to CongressThis is to send a message to all of congress that we are tired of them collectively not doing their jobs. If congress remains in a gridlock of failure we will vote out every incumbent that is up for election in 2014. We will do the same in 2016. We won’t continue to do the same thing and expect different results.7 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Michael Smith

Standarized Election ProceduresThe arbitrary election rules in each state are unacceptable and supress the vote. Unecessary long lines, fewer days for early voting and the voter-id scams need to stop. We need the same rules in all states. Period!641 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Barbara O'Neal
