IN A FEDERAL ELECTION IT IS A FELONY FOR AN ELECTED OFFICIAL TO IMPEDE A REGISTERED VOTER'S ACCESS TO A BALLOT OR POLLING PLACE.

The entire country is sick of the no-compromise House of Representatives, led by John Boehner, who have continually been unwilling to even talk about raising taxes on the wealthiest individuals in the population. We must raise taxes AND cut spending or the country will suffer greatly.

Some extreme right GOP person has brought a challenge to the SCOTUS. Stating the law is not needed for those states in the south that were affected in 1964. The court will hear the arguments. After what we've been through in the election on Tursday they are trying everything to silence voters for upcoming elections. We must make our voice heard by signing this petition. We have to stay FIRED UP! and work hard to keep our rights. Let's keep working to stop the GOP agenda.

The recent Presidential election made it obvious that the corporations funding much of the advertising have plenty of cash, unlike many of the citizens they want to influence. Individual donations are limited to $2,500 per election to a Federal candidate or $30,800 to a national party committee, but unlimited for corporations. This petition asks that donations over this limit made by any corporation or union be matched dollar for dollar, with matching money held in a fund to assist those in financial distress caused by natural disasters or other situations beyond their control.

"Assault Weapons" are not the problem, and are used in less than one-fifth of one percent of violent crimes, falling well behind arson and explosives. Banning so-called assault weapons only violates YOU'RE second and fourth amendment rights. We need common sense solutions like mental wellness screening, background checks, and registration, not bans that will cost YOU billions to enforce.

For people in the NY, NJ area directly impacted by the devastation of Hurricane Sandy it has been next to impossible to obtain gasoline to run their cars or power their generators. People are unable to get to work, take their children to school, check up on elderly family members, or have access to light and heat via the use of a generator. Residents of these areas are being forced to wait in line for hours on end (one report tells of a man who waited almost 30 hours!!!) It's about time that the big companies such as Shell, BP, Exxon/Mobil, etc. give back to the communities that continually provide them record making profits in the BILLIONS!! Let's ask them to set up temporary filling stations and DONATE GAS so that people can have much needed access to gasoline and put those savings into rebuilding their homes and families that were destroyed by this natural disaster

The Bush tax cuts are repealed as of 1/1/13. I want the President to know that I make well under 250k, but I am willing to risk a tax increase in order that the President hold the line past January 1st to insure that the tax increase on those over 250K take effect. The House Republicans will offer the elimination of tax breaks, but those will get diluted by the lobbyists and will come back to life as an add-on to an essential budget bill.

The Republicans have succeeded by just threatening to filibuster. Please force them to actually filibuster so their destructive behavior will be more visible

Malala, a fourteen years old girl was ambushed and shot by a group of Taliban in Swat, Pakistan on October 9th. . She was being punished for speaking out for women's right for education. She highlights the need for education for girls we well as stubborness on the part of uneducated Taliban Mafia. As Taliban nuisance is alive and well in Afghanistan and Pakistan. They are entrenched in Pakistan's area called FATA and are everywhere else as well. The question is as to how to combat their determination to take the nation back in to the dark ages. I strongly believe that the answer is in education, just like it brought Europe out of the dark ages.... Education not just for the common folks only but also for the children of these Taliban so they do not grow up like their fathers. This is the most cost effective way to prevent the continuance of the menace of ignorance. What happens there affects us directly. The treatment of ignorance is costing us billions of dollars a month. The prevention will cost us just a few million dollars a year. I guess it is a human nature, we do not want to pay attention to prevention and then wonder, what the hell happened. I propose that we pay attention to taming the monster by taking in their children and enroll them in schools where they are taught all the subjects including humanities.... education imbued with human values.
