• Congress: Enough Angry Rhetoric-Get To Work On The Economy Now!
The election is over and the message was loud and clear. Economic relief for middle class and poor is priority number one. Stop the nasty politics and do your job. Obstructionists won't win re-election.

  • To Congress: All Holidays & Vacations Are Cancelled
The US is facing "falling off the financial cliff" on January 1, 2013. The American public "hired" Congress to make sure there is a fair, long term solution that will avert this disaster to our economy.

  • Stop antibiotics in animal feed
I feel very strongly that no animals should have antibiotics in their food supply because that will affect the health of human beings. This practice must be outlawed.

  • Solution to global warming
Recent flooding in New York City is just the tip of the iceberg. We need to do something about global warming now. If we were to spend $80 billion of the $800 billion U.S. defense budget on global warming imitativeness (tidal, wind, solar energy, conservation, new technologies) we would stimulate the economy, reduce disaster costs (NYC is $50 billion alone), and reduce national security threats. In addition, if the rest of the world followed our example, it would be a more peaceful place to live.

  • Boycott Butterball Turkeys in North Carolina
Last year, Mercy for Animals uncovered horrendous abuse of turkeys at a Butterball plant in Hoke County. They swore it would never happen again, but now, there are four more Butterball plants doing the same thing! Not trusting that Butterball would keep its word to enforce a "zero tolerance policy" on animal abuse, Mercy for Animals investigated plants this fall and discovered severe infractions in facilities in Sampson, Duplin, Onslow, and Lenoir counties. They have videos of turkeys with open festering wounds left untreated as well as broken bones. Workers are seen kicking and stomping the birds and throwing them around by their necks. This is a disgusting treatment of birds that is completely unnecessary. These are living, breathing creatures! Hoke county police have already arrested workers for animal cruelty, but Butterball needs to step up and make sure this never happens again. Can you imagine what effect it would have if we all decided to not buy their turkeys this Thanksgiving! Source: http://abclocal.go.com/wtvd/story?section=news/abc11_investigates&id=8885241

  • Line Item Veto
As we once again approach a fiscal cliff and our national debt is higher than ever before we need to control government spending. Although it is not the end all be all solution it is a small step in the right direction to allow the President to veto line items in budget bills to stop the practice of adding pet projects to important legislation knowing full well their pork barrel project will get funding due to the importance of the larger issue. Additionally the President needs the authority to eliminate unnecessary riders to legislation for the same reason.

  • 2% Tax Rate
On Quest Means Business, Warren Buffet suggested that the tax rate for the top 2% should be 50%. Nina Dos Santos remarked that the 50% tax rate for the wealthy in the UK. I think is is only fair that the top 2% in the U.S. should pay the same rates!

  • Term Limits for Congress
Term Limits for Congress to prevent gridlock and get fresh ideas to solve problems. Long term service in Congress has taken representation away from the people because they are more worried about re-election than solving problems and making the other party look bad. The same reasoning behind Presidential term limits needs to be applied to them.

  • Sears hurting jobs in the USA
My petition concerns companies that choose to sell products made in China (or other countries) rather than those made in the USA, thereby causing jobs in our country to be lost which adds to our economic nightmares.

  • Stop Corporate Entitlement Program
It is ludicrous that the CEO’s and executives of corporations primarily funded by government contracts should be raking in million dollar salaries. The average American salary has been stagnant for years and insurance premiums for health care increase. Battelle Memorial Institute runs several National Labs and is dependent on government contracts. The salaries and compensation of Battelle’s 27 highest paid employees totaled over $21 million dollars in 2009, one man accumulating $1.7 million of compensation in a single year. A business that makes 70% or more of their revenue from government contracts needs a salary cap for CEO's and executives of no more than a total compensation of $250,000/year.

  • Bud Selig, please force Jeffrey Loria out of MLB
as a huge basball fan, allowing jeff loria to own a major league basball franchise destroys the integrity of the game and takes the people of the respectful city his club plays in for fools.
