The Texas governor's position on funding public schools has impacted the school district's ability to provide increased teaching methods and increased salaries for public school employees for several years. Rick Perry has refused to accept much needed federal funding, resulting in school districts inability to effectively move forward. The ultimate "crime" is that Texas children are suffering and falling behind the nation's national averages in learning and achievement standards.

Unemployment rates are decreasing slowly yet far too many are having extreme difficulty locating employment along with family or friends who want and NEED to work to elevate the economy. We will be left out in the cold with no other resources to maintain living expenses or afford healthcare. Please speak out to have these benefits extended as they were previously for the 99ers and contact your state/federal officials ASAP so this can be addressed in the Fiscal Cliff Bill!

This Thanksgiving, while millions of families plan to spend quality time with their loved ones, Walmart Associates have been told we will be stocking shelves and preparing for sales starting at 8pm. I have worked at the Walmart in Kenosha, Wisconsin for 24 years, and while I love my job, I cannot silently watch while my fellow Associates are forced to be away from their families on Thanksgiving. My son is coming home from Afghanistan for the holiday, and I would be devastated if I had been scheduled to work. I see the disappointment and heartbreak in the eyes of my co-workers, especially those with young kids, who aren’t going to be able to share the holiday with their families. This early start to Black Friday sales on Thanksgiving Day is one more example of Walmart’s disconnect with the workers who keep the stores running and the company’s disregard for all of our families. As the largest employer in the country, Walmart could be setting a standard for businesses to value families, but instead, this is one more Walmart policy decision that hurts our families. Will you join me and tell Walmart to give Thanksgiving back to employees and their families by not starting sales on Thanksgiving Day?

Under the 21st century communication act, a certain percentage of T.V. shows, major movie studio released DVD's, and movie theaters are to have audio description for the blind and visually impaired. Some movie theaters in Sacramento and surrounding areas has discontinued their audio description service.

I am tired of the stigma associated with marijuana. It is less harmful and dangerous than either alcohol or tobacco. Marijuana should be legalized and regulated also. Let's end the prohibition on this plant

The redistricting efforts of 2011 have proven that political parties are more interested in their own priorities than in representing their constituencies. We have until 2020 to do something to prevent politicians from limiting the democratic process through partisan maneuvering of district boundaries. Gerrymandering is one of the most consistently undemocratic realities in this great country.

Pressure house republicans to work with the president to move the country forward. The fiscal cliff is a made up crisis and we should petition the house to stop playing politics and do the work of the people.

The country has failed to move ahead effectively due to Congress putting party interests ahead of the people of the United States. The President has been re-elected by a large majority of Americans looking to move us FORWARD. We will be watching closely for the next two years to identify any congressperson or senator keeping us back.

I think who is an illegal alien in the US should be made legal, excluding ones that have committed violent crimes. This would help with the debt of the US because all of the illegals would have to begin to pay taxes and it will cut the nations debt dramatically.
