Most corn and soy products in the USA are from Genetically Modified Seed. It is not labeled and proper testing has not been done. Consumers have the right to know what they are eating.

I live in Wondervu, atop of Hwy 72. Construction of an enlargement of the dam would cause irreparable harm to elk/deer migration, to the , peace and quiet of our area (60+ big trucks a day for several years on our two lane road), danger to recreational bikers on our narrow roads, possible danger to our wells (we are not on an aquifer, but have fracture wells which may be impacted by dynamiting AND Arvada/Denver is implementing NO water conservation efforts allowing open fountains and watering the medians... yada, yada.

I lived in Japan during the 2000 Presidential election debacle and it was heartbreaking to see it through the eyes of a foreign people. (I fully expected this issue to be hotly debated at that time) This system makes no sense to them, nor to me. It had it's place in colonial America, when much of our population was ill or poorly literate, but not in this age. If the cost wasn't enough, look at the elections that were won against the popular vote. All talk is about "swing states". While I live in one, I'd feel as if I was a second class citizen if I didn't; everyone would already know if my vote (electoral) would be red or blue. Please join me in addressing this issue and CHANGING IT. We, the people, have a voice, and I hope, through media such as Facebook, Washington will take heed and REMOVE THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE from our Democracy.

Our health is important, we have a voice to ask what we need to be strong and healthy community. We don't want big corporations take control of what to eat. We care about our children ....

As a climate activist, I see an opening to revise U.S. tax policy, which now supports oil, gas, and coal companies -- the biggest polluters of the environment -- through subsidies. Although Pres. Obama may not be able to get national legislation to slow global warming, he can get these subsidies reversed with our support. And perhaps add subsidies for renewables. That means, we can reduce emissions through the tax code.

Hostess Brands sought to greatly reduce it's contributions to employee pension plans, change worker rules (pay decrease), and outsource delivery services. They told the bakers union they would file bankruptcy which would invalidate thier collective bargin agreement if they did not accept their offer. The union rejected and went on strike. Hostess went ahead with the threat and had the agreement invalidated then immediately closed three plants without telling the striking workers. Over 600 workers who were fighting to keep their salary or honoring the union line lost their jobs.

At Bitch Media, an international nonprofit feminist media organization (and the publishers of Bitch), we're looking into migrating our current email platform to a Gmail platform. It saves us a few dollars a year, and it allows us to access the incredible tools that Google provides to countless organizations just like ours around the globe. But we can't. Because we can't register a domain for Google Apps that has the word "bitch" in it. And well, we're Bitch Media. We know that not everyone’s down with the term. Believe us, we’ve heard all about it. But we stand firm in our belief that if we choose to reappropriate the word, it loses its power to hurt us. And if we can get people thinking about what they’re saying when they use the word, that’s even better. We're asking you to take a stance with us—and then we'll send the petition along to Google to make our case. So, what do you say? Will you take a stand with (for!) Bitch?

Employers, especially in the SF Bay Area, are bring in unqualified H1B1 workers because they are cheap. I see it time & time again in my work. Headhunters openlly admit it too me. It is doing a disservice to us because the H1B1 workers are simply getting free training here as they are not really trained for these programming positions. I'm a middle age women, having trouble getting a position in this field as it is dominated by H1B1 workers.

In accordance with the Affordable Care Act, Oklahoma is being offered federal funding that will provide 100% of the cost of expanding the state's existing Medicaid Program for 3 full years. This expansion will enable the state to provide healthcare coverage to up to 190,000 additional Oklahoma citizens who are currently uninsured. After the 3rd year, the amount of federal funds being provided to the state, will be incrementally reduced, until the state is receiving a maximum of 90% of the cost of the Medicaid expansion. At that time, Oklahoma will become responsible for covering the remaining 10% of the remaining expansion costs. Not only will accepting this funding significantly improve the health and the quality of life of many currently uninsured Oklahoma citizens, it will also provide substantial economic benefits for the state, by saving the state millions of dollars in uncompensated healthcare costs, and by creating thousands of new high-paying jobs in healthcare, and related fields, which will generate significant new tax revenues for the state of Oklahoma.

Ohio voters delivered a powerful message on Election Day, but legislators didn't get the message. The Ohio legislature is moving forward with two extreme and dangerous bills. One bill could defund Planned Parenthood, and the other bill would create the most extreme abortion ban in the country.

The Sportsmen Act would allow 41 US hunters to bring home polar bear carcasses that are trapped in Canada because of a ban on trophy imports, while polar bears are threatened with extinction as the arctic ice cap melts. This bill will also ban the EPA from regulating lead ammo and tackle, while eagles, condors and 75 species of birds are needlessly poisoned by lead left in the wild.
