  • Select Portfolio Servicing
Select Portfolio Servicing (SPS) is my mortgage servicier. As a major servicer for a now-defunct mortgage company [FIrst Franklin] I have been denied several times for some type of mortgage modification. I know that SPS had people on their payroll that were part and parcel of the robo-signing that was occurring. My major concern is [despite several inquiries] I have been told that I cannot know the name of the bank that presently holds my mortgage (despite it being part of one of the mbe's). We just want to STAY IN OUR HOMES. Banks have the power to reduce mortgages and modify.

  • Helen Purcell should resign.
In a state as large as Arizona the fact that our votes still haven't been counted is unacceptable. Now they don't want to count them. Do your job or let someone who is capable have the position. This is absolutely ridiculous. We are the only state that hasn't completed this task. Our state government and polictical officials are embarrassing enough.

  • URGENT: Extend federal emergency unemployment benefits now
Congress needs to extend federal emergency unemployment benefits before they expire in December. There are more than 2 million Americans, who like me, cannot find a job, have expensive bills to pay, and we are still struggling to make ends meet.

No more misdemeanors- justice for the animals, we need to make all forms of animal cruelty a felony, punishable by 5-15 years in prison, plus a lifetime ban from ever owning any animal, upon release from prison.

  • Get off the Grid and create jobs everywhere!
Counties and Towns all across the nation have economic development funds available for their communities. They also have sustainable energy sources such as wind, or solar, or bio-mass, or wave power, or bio-waste, etc. By using the already existing funds and the resources at hand, many jobs will be created in those locales by working towards the goal of getting off the grid. It would also be a source of income for those towns and counties as they could sell any excess power back to the grid. Cities and industries can contribute to energy production but their resources are not plentiful enough to provide all the energy they need. That is the role of large energy sources such as wind farms and solar arrays. This could be a national goal which would empower and excite people at the local level across the entire country.

  • FDA: Regulate Drugs and Prevent "SuperBugs"
We are asking the United States Food and Drug Administration to take steps in regulating antibiotics that are being given to livestock. These antibiotics are not only harmful but they can lead to "superbugs" that are resistent to medication. Keep our food supply safe and tell the FDA to regulate the use of antibiotics in livestock to stop the spread of antibiotic-resistant "superbugs."

  • Cap in medical malpractice case
Several states have implemented a cap for the patient suffering from medical malpractices. Even if the damage is severe, patient suffering is scaled by the politicans (who may have never faced any medical malpractice). This is only protecting the interest of the big hospitals. We should change this law.

  • BofA bullies disabled clients who need help with HAMP
In June 2012, an elderly veteran's widow and dear friend of mine, Carol and I (I am also disabled and the wife of a disabled veteran) applied for the federal government's Home Affordable Modification Program (HAMP). Finally after 6 months of calling every week, completing necessary forms, and faxing countless documents to BofA, we finally received tentative approval. BofA's offer was only a 1.1% interest rate reduction on our current mortgage loan, down to 4.75%. (We had bought our home together in 2006, put 20% down, and are paying 5.875% on the balance.) Presently our home's value has dropped by over $130K. And like so many others customers who bought houses at the wrong time/place, we now owe much more than it is worth. Our handicaps also make it extremely difficult to sell or move. So even though we have been loyal customers of BofA for over twenty years; have never been LATE on any of our payments; and both have excellent credit records; this is ALL BofA was willing to do to help us. To make a bad situation worse, when we asked the bank (by phone & in writing) to please recalculate our combined income before our trial period starts, due to an unforeseeable decrease in our income, the bank's representative said, "NO. Once an offer has been made - you can either take it, or leave it; but if you DO NOT accept it, WE (the bank) will NOT make you any other offers in the future, even if you decide to reapply with your presently reduced income." "WOW! Really?" I asked. I don't think this is how the federal program is suppose to work. So I called his supervisor, who never called me back after 3 messages left. And then I contacted his supervisor's supervisor, who also ignored my messages. So yesterday I called the federal HA HELP hotline. The representative there said since our loan is a conventional one (neither Freddie Mac or Fannie Mae), BofA CAN do this and there is NOTHING the government can do to help us. "Really?" And now Carol & I have discovered, if we do accept BofA's DEAL(?), it will wreck both our credit records because it forces customers to go late (by their only paying the lower payment amount) for three consecutive months during the trial period. THIS IS SO UNFAIR! We've heard BofA is too big to fight, but do you remember David & Goliath? We think 'the pen is mightier than the sword!' Please help us fight Goliath by informing others and by asking your friends and family members to sign this petition. And lastly, if you're a customer of Bank of America, be cautious.
