Legalize medicinal marijuana!! It stops the pain and nausea associated with so many chronic illnesses that require toxic narcotics as the only available form of relief!! I know, I am one of those people!!

When a CEO thinks they can control how their employees vote by threats, its time for workers and customers to unite and send them a very clear message that's its un-American. If this type of behavior is not contained, it becomes the norm.

All moneys collected from the new casinos shall go in addition to the state contribution of this year. There shall be not "state reduction" in the buget.

12 years ago President Bush established a "temporary" tax cut to stimulate the economy using the theory if the people had more money it would stimulate job growth. There was a sunshine provision and the cuts were to end in 2010, but because legislators would not pass an unemployment benefit extension, a deal was struck. The idea has not succeeded in creating more jobs, only more wealth for those who were already wealthy. The poor and middle class tax cuts were spent on basic needs and daily living expenses. Because the market has been flooded with foreign products due to outsourcing, the only economy stimulated was the foreign economy.

The amount of money spent and the length of time the campaign was conducted is embaarassing.

It is time, we the people, to urge our Congress to support President Obama's tax plan

I am disgusted by the money and the messages religious organizations pour into political campaigns. I am a firm believer that religion is between you and your God. If churches can sponsor referendums, pay for lobbyists and spend millions trying to influence the votes of their parishioners then they can assist in paying down the U.S. deficit.

Once again, we are headed for a “fiscal cliff” -- a rack of spending cuts and tax increases that will take place in January automatically if Congress doesn’t find a better way to reduce our deficit by $700 billion. The re-election of president Obama should have sent a clear message to Congress that it is the will of the people to let Bush tax cuts expire for the wealthiest Americans. The abysmal performance of the elections officials of the State of Florida during the November 6, 2012 election is an issue that needs to be fixed. I am a Florida voter who was effectively disenfranchised by Governor Rick Scott and the Florida Legislature during the election . The voter ID laws will go into effect for subsequent elections and will further serve to suppress the vote. Governor Scott has the ability to repeal these laws and to correct the voter suppression rulings he made during the November 6, 2012 election. We're calling on him to do right by the Florida electorate.

L.A.’s landfills are overflowing, half our city can’t recycle and dirty waste trucks are polluting our communities. All this can change – but only if you demand that city leaders take action. They need to hear from you, because waste companies, landlords, big business and their lobbyists that make a killing off our current dirty system are doing everything they can to prevent change. A majority of our councilmembers already have pledged their support for the solution that’s best for Los Angeles. But the pressure is on, and there are five council members who need to hear from all of us before November 14. Please tell City Councilmembers Tom LaBonge, Paul Krekorian, Herb Wesson, Joe Buscaino and Jose Huizar to vote YES on an exclusive franchise for L.A.’s commercial and multifamily waste system. It's up to us to ensure that special interests don’t bully our city leaders against moving ahead and doing the right thing.

Congress imposed a pension law that forced the U.S. Post Office to fund its pension for 75 years in advance & to do it in 10 years. No company, private or public, funds its pensions for workers not yet born. If they did they would go bankrupt. That law is hurting the post office, its workers (at a time when jobs are badly needed), and hurting our economy and mail delivery to many in rural areas that depend on the P.O. for medicines & needed supplies. Ask Congress to repeal that law now!

Everybody knows somebody who has been hurt or injured on the job, but few people realize (or care about) the gross inequities, pain, and difficulties getting good health care faced by people who are injured at work. I developed asthma and other allergic health issues from working in a school administrative site – an old, wooden portable that had rusted iron beams in the walls and ceiling. We had been, unknowingly, inhaling fine iron rust powders for years, along with molds and other substances. Sick buildings, usually the product of poor maintenance by employers, causes physical, economical, emotional and career damage to many thousands of hard-working, dedicated people annually. Work-related illnesses cause loss of production, economic family hardship and mental and physical waste. Many people give up in fear for their job or do not report injuries at work, unless they are obvious. The Worker's Comp posters in work locations are not worth - for the truly injured worker - the paper they are printed on! Those posters largely represent a farce. Ask any woman or man who has been injured at work. America needs not only universal health care as proposed by President Obama, but a guaranteed, universal health care system for injured workers that is NOT controlled by the employer and the insurance company (a.k.a. carrier) whose main concerns are keeping claims down and injured workers quiet. Teachers, firemen, office-workers, medical staff, restaurant workers, and everyone who works for someone else are at risk of entering this dark, insidious Worker's Compensation system. I'm calling on all injured workers who have found themselves in this toxic mire of pain and paperwork to unite and speak out. I am asking President Obama to stand up for injured workers around this country and to create protective laws and a universal health/legal system of excellence to treat and protect injured workers. We are women and men who were struggling in this economy to provide for our families, then, an injury at work or on the job threw us into the dark, insidious, unfair, health and legal system of the Workers Compensation system. My petition starts with President Obama because he cares. The U.S. House (Republicans) tend to support only businesses and they do not care about the welfare or injuries of workers.
