• Congressional Reform Act of 2013
We the people no longer find the current legislative practices fair to the public. We have a situation where the FOX has been left in charge of the Hen House scenario. 1. Congress should work for a retirement just like any other federal employee. 2. Congress should have medical benefits while in office which are the same as that received by any other federal employee. 3. Our soldiers serve 20 years in order to receive a full pension, so should any members of congress. 4. Retired members of congress must use the benefit of Social Security and Medicare, the same as any other citizen. They may purchase supplemental and prescription insurance the same as any other citizen. 5. Bills brought before congress are subject to veto by the president on a line by line expense basis. We need to eliminate bills which members can not support because it contains amendments that append other legislation to a bill. We need to have a congress that serves the needs of the PEOPLE and not the whims of their political party. The current retirement and benefit system afforded a President and Vice President shall remain as currently implemented. Both offices are demanding and deserves all the perks afforded present and past occupants of both offices. No one person may collect remuneration for more than one office however.

  • Class Action Lawsuit: Against Republican Move to Vouchercare Instead of Medicare
The signors of this petition consist of people who have paid Medicare taxes faithfully throughout their working lives. We are waging a class-action lawsuit against the Romney/Ryan Republican-led plan to dismantle our Medicare terms and to create a "Vouchercare" system. Medicare taxes consist of the people's money. This is a contractual dispute between the undersignors and the members of the Republican party who propose to unilaterally change the terms of this contractual agreement without the people's consent.

  • Fix School District Spending
Schools in our district have been laying off teachers every year, and cutting services for students steadily, from class size increase to eliminating important educational programs, and now furlough days for schools. Yet, they spend millions on purchasing new curriculum material and staff training associated with these new purchases. How is that justified?

  • President Obama: Make Colorado's Parent CNA Program for the Children's HCBS Waiver a Federal Med...
My son Miles has a rare disease called Menkes. He requires 24 hour a day nursing care and is covered by Medicaid due to his life limiting illness. We are fortunate enough to live in the state of Colorado where they have a program to help families like us. The state will reimburse health care providers who hire parents of children with life limiting illnesses and train them to become a Certified Nurses Assistant. My wife took the courses, passed the tests and is now employed by a health care provider to give care to my son so an outside nurse doesn't have to and my wife doesn't need to get another job. Some states see caring for your child in any form as "paternal duties" but I can tell you there is nothing paternal about G-Tubes, suction catheters and emergency seizure medication administering. My wife replacing a skilled Registered Nurse in our home saves the Medicaid system approximately $40,000 annually! It is not only cost efficient but the right thing to do for a family already dealing with such a tough circumstance. In my heart, I feel Miles has out lived expectations of his disease partially due to the paternal love he feels more than other children, in other states whose parents have to find jobs during such a tough situation and have a stranger come in to care for their child. Thank you for your time, Jonathan V. Taylor Denver, Colorado

  • Internal Revenue Service: revoke the tax-exempt status of the American Legislative Exchange Coun...
This matter concerns the massive underreporting of lobbying by the American Legislative Exchange Council ("ALEC"). While ostensibly a nonprofit organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, ALEC's primary purpose is to provide a vehicle for its corporate members to lobby state legislators and to deduct the costs of such efforts as charitable contributions. ALEC drafts "model" legislation provided by its corporate and legislative members, and lobbies for the adoption of that legislation. These goals are fundamentally inconsistent with ALEC's claimed tax-exempt status as a charitable organization under 26 U.S.C. ยง 501(c)(3), because (i) "no substantial part" of a charity's activity can be "attempting to influence legislation," and (ii) ALEC's activities do not qualify under any of the enumerated purposes of Section 501(c)(3).

  • Spay and Neuter your pets it's the law
This petition is about making a law that all pet owners have to spay and neuter their pets. Also any pet adopted out threw a shelter or rescue group or pet store has to be spayed and neutered before they are adopted out. If the pet owners don't comply they will be fined. This will help lower the animals in shelters that are euthanized daily.

  • No Longer Using Social Security Number for Identification Purposes
I think it's should be illegal for companies to require individuals to use their social security numbers for identification. I believe it would reduce the identity theft if these numbers had no use other than the original purpose to identify you to the Social Security Administration. Every action Americans take (including verifying themselves to local businesses) includes use of their social security number or a portion of it.

  • Health Care for All
It is unconscionable that their are many million Americans who cannot obtain health insurance. America is the only developed nation in the world without national health care. No one should consider health care as socialism. No God of any religion would sanction not caring for our people.

  • Idaho State University Recycling
Universities across the country have taken leadership in educating about and promoting sustainablity, but ISU is behind in this important issue. Many ISU students, faculty, and staff carry empty soda cans or stacks of paper around until we find one of the few recycling containers on campus. Others do not bother. As members of the ISU community, we want clearly marked recycling containers available all over campus as part of a university commitment to sustainability.
