The Extended Benefits program was also stopped in August 2012 affecting every American counting on that income. If EUC08 is allowed to expire at the end of 2012, unemployed workers will only be eligible for regular state benefits or 26 weeks. In order to help, EDD webpages are directing Unemployed Americans like me to look for assistance for their families at other public and social services, such as counseling, CalWORKs, Medi-Cal, CalFresh, general relief, etc. To no fault of our own, we have been laid off, and subjected to presidential candidate's ridicule and misrepresentation while we desperately continue to look for the job that evades us. Do not forget the millions of Americans affected by this legislation during your campaign.

My fiancé is at risk of being deported for a simple traffic violation. He has no prior criminal record. I am 34 weeks pregnant with his daughter. Chicago currently has an appointed Board of Education hand-picked by the mayor. The recent teachers strike in the city of Chicago has shown that the current board is interested in privatizing and dismantling public education. We need to elect and hold board members accountable through the democratic process.

In states that don't have a "valued policy law", disaster victims spend months-often years- wrangling with their insurance companies over the amount they're owed to rebuild or replace their destroyed home. Right now the insurance companies have convinced California legislators to cap pain and suffering to $250,000. This is a door stopper for any attorney to take a malpractice case. It costs more than $250,000 to take a malpractice case to trial, including expert witnesses etc. Doctors are now being protected since victim's family cannot retain an attorney, cannot get subpoenaed records of what actually happened during the death or permanent medical damage. Doctors who kill or permanently harm are able to avoid Civil trials due to MICRA; thus keeping their doors open to you and your family. Unknowingly, you could be the next innocent patient who walks into a doctor's office who practices under the acceptable standard of care, and have a fatal outcome. Especially today when doctors across all specialities are overdosing and overprescribing opiates even to include these dangerous drugs in prescribed cough medicine. Speak Up for your life. Demand MICRA to be put to sleep. End MICRA.

Mitt Romney has no ability to understand the struggles of most Americans. I bet he has never, never-ever, had to worry about paying a personal bill (medical bill, electric bill, rent); well, I have–more often than I would like despite a professional degree and living within my means. And yet he thinks he can pass judgment on the working poor, elderly, and our veterans because they don't pay federal income taxes? This from a man who refuses to reveal what he has paid in taxes, except the last two years that he has been able to manipulate for "show." Out of touch, mean spirited, and wrong for America.
