The jobless rate of veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan was 10.9 percent in August, compared to 8.1 percent nationally. We owe these young men and women who have sacrificed for the rest of us the opportunity to work and reclaim their lives here at home.

This president has gone above and beyond the international rule of law with respect to tackling the problem of terrorism. He has kept the Gitmo open, he has indiscriminately killed thousands of innocent civilians while going after and killing 22 top al-Qaida militants (thanks to the controversial drone program), he continues to use the controversial rendition program, and he continues the illegal warrantless wiretapping program on Americans. It's high time that the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands indict President Obama on crimes against humanity and any other applicable war crimes charges.

Tasers/Stun Guns have been in law enforcement to use instead of a weapon. Well, both are actually weapons. The average taser gun can produce anywhere 80,000 to 300,000 volts of electricity. Hundreds have been killed by Tasers! It is dangerous for law enforcement to throw around a taser on someone that is not healthy. Law enforcement do not know the medical history and just assume anyone can be tased (or many share this belief). There has been too many fatalities as a result of using a taser, which is not much better than the other option they have, a firearm. Depending upon medical history, a taser can be more deadly than a firearm. Keep Tasers from being used on innocent people, those who are not being a threat, those who are not causing harm. I was threatened a few months ago, and I was simply sitting on my sofa when I was threatened with a taser! Keep Tasers from law enforcement who are not responsible.

Fracking is a serious threat to clean water, and therefore a threat to public health and environmental health. Frackers are exempt from environmental regulation, thanks to the so-called "Halliburton Loophole," courtesy of the Bush administrations energy policy. In hydraulic fracturing, literally millions of gallons of precious clean water and tens of thousands of gallons of toxic chemicals are blasted into layers of shale deep underground. These chemicals, many of which are carcinogenic and/or extremely toxic to aquatic life, inevitably leak into ground water, which feeds peoples wells, and ultimately larger waterways. Germany does not allow hydraulic fracturing in the country, and neither should we.

After 50+ years, the need for an embargo against Cuba is non-existant. Opening up trade and travel with Cuba would help the United States and Cuba. As a tourist destination, Cuba would be enjoyed by many Americans who know nothing about that country. Trade would improve conditions in Cuba, and also benefit American business.

There are no emission regulations for the trucks and cars on the road of Colorado Springs or anywhere in the state of Colorado! I get sick and instantly affected by the quality of air on the road, and it is an appalling sight to see black clouds covering the entire surface of huge semi-truck. Everyone needs to be required to pass a clean emissions test to drive on the road - keep our lungs, trees, water and environment clean, healthy and safe!!
