I am offended by the recent expose on Mitt Romney's opinion of me. Part of Mitt's '47 percent', I am a retired civil servant who has just applied for social security.

At a recent fundraiser, GOP Presidential nominee Mitt Romney said he will "never convince" 47 percent of Americans to "take personal responsibility and care for their lives", that they "are dependent on government", they "believe they are victims" and his "job is not to worry about those people". Arizona voters need to know if their GOP Senate candidate shares those views.

The Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD) of New Mexico is considering an amendment to its child care assistance policy to exempt victims of "forcible rape" from having to file child support claims against the absent parent. Under current policy, anyone who applies and qualifies for child care assistance from the state of New Mexico is required to file a child support claim against any absent parent. The newly proposed amendment exempts a woman from contacting the other parent if her child "was conceived as a result of incest or forcible rape." The CYFD will hold a public hearing on the change on Oct. 1, but it is unclear when the amendment would go into effect if it is approved. However, if the amendment passes a woman whose rape is not ruled "forcible," such as a young victim of statutory rape, would be forced to contact her rapist for child support in order to receive any state assistance. "That's what's so confusing -- when it gets down to a caseworker deciding whether I'm exempt or not," said Adriann Barboa, the field director for the New Mexico branch of Strong Families. "What's the litmus test for whether it was forcible rape? This seems like a covert way of normalizing this language." House Republicans, including Reps. Paul Ryan (Wis.) and Todd Akin (Mo.), supported a bill in 2011 that would have redefined rape as it related to abortion insurance coverage, and New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez (R), a former prosecutor, also used the "forcible rape" language in an executive proclamation earlier this year. “When are we going to stop looking for ways to minimize the violence against women?" K.C. Quirk, executive director of Crossroads for Women in Albuquerque, N.M., said in a statement. "Rape by definition is already an act of power and control.” Martinez's office and the CYFD did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

We can ALL be personaly affected if we lose this election on a technicality! Would - be voters will be turned away at the poles because they moved since the last big election and did not know they have to re register in their new district ! For months Congressman Darrell Issa, Chairman of the House Oversight Committee conducted what amounted to a partisan witch hunt for Attorney General Eric Holder over the Fast and Furious debacle and even hinted that President Obama was involved. The U.S. Department of Justice just exonerated Holder. Tell Darrell Issa that he owes Holder and Obama an apology and should take personal responsibility for the wasted tax payer money that went into this by either paying it back or resigning or both.

Mitt Romney was talking about me and you! I'm probably part of his 47% who need the government to protect me against health insurance companies by creating insurance for all Americans. A government that takes care of a mother in Massachusetts, who without MassHealth (Medicare and Medicaid) would not be surviving her dementia. You know that was a Romney initiative that provides the best healthcare system in American and the ACA was modeled after......go figure. Or maybe the 47% are really mostly Mitt's donors who don't pay taxes either. Think about it and knock on the door of Bob Dold and every other Republican, Democrat and Tea Party representative who stand behind Romney. Ask them if they are part of the 47% or they were elected into the Congress by the 47% and thensome? Ask them to remember that Mitt Romney was born with a silver spoon and proud of it. Ask them if they are bold enough to stand up for one American and end the politics of money instead of the politics of the people.

Mitt Romney was caught on video, claiming to campaign donors that 47% of Americans are 'victims' who are dependent on government handouts, and don't take responsibility for their lives. We all have friends, family and neighbors who are hard working citizens, some managing to live on less than minimum wage. They don't consider themselves victims. Rep. Runyan should repudiate Romney's comments and demonstrate that he represents ALL New Jerseyans.
