• Declare Voting Day a National Holiday
A bill should be introduced to make national voting day a national holiday thereby creating a situation where more people would have the chance to vote without their work being an obstacle. A greater turn out in voters would be more representative of what the people want. There is nothing as important in a democracy as the right to vote.

  • Citizens United: a catastrophe in need of reversal
Democracy in the USA was made a sham by the Citizen's United, the Supreme Court's ruling that allows corporations to make unlimited donations to political campaigns. Corporations are not people! Our public offices should not go to the highest bidder!

  • Save Social Security for Future Generations
There has been too much talk ... and too little action ... about the impending insolvency of the Social Security System. Politicians use scare tactics to highlight the problem, yet they are afraid to tackle the problem in any serious manner. Earlier fixes to Social Security included raising the minimum age requirement and raising the amount of income that could be taxed. Removing the ceiling on Social Security taxes would ensure the solvency of the Social Security system by placing an additional "burden" on those who can most afford it.

  • Close the SUV fuel economy loophole
For two decades now, automakers have pushed highly-profitable large SUVs and sharply reduced or eliminated wagon variations of popular small- and midsized cars. Due to a loophole in the decades-old EPA regulations, these SUVs are classified as "commercial" vehicles and are exempt from the "gas guzzler" tax that is imposed upon cars that get poor fuel economy. We are calling on Congress to level the playing field. Hold SUVs to the same standard as passenger cars, because they are used the same way. Consumers who choose to buy low fuel economy SUVs should be subject to the same tax a car buyer pays for choosing a car that uses excess fuel.

  • Term Limits for the Senate & Congress
In order to remove the current gridlock where interest groups pander to senators and congressmen who view their positions as life long employment, a two time service - as with the 22nd Amendment will provide fresh blood and an avenue for folks who want to serve their country rather than their own pockets.

  • Campaign Finance Reform
Currently 400 of the wealthiest individuals are deciding what legislation is going to be passed, based on their own interests. This has led to deregulation and tax breaks. Legislators are being bribed every day by lobbyists because people (and corporations apparently) can donate unlimited funds to campaigns. I am proposing a limit of $100 per person per candidate for campaign donations. We spoke about this at Fighting Bob Fest on September 15th in Madison, Wisconsin

  • United Way - Sets Impropriety with Wrong Plan,
Greater Cleveland United Way contributed $25,000 to the Cleveland School Levy. United Way purposely failed to reveal that several of their Board of Directors is on the Board of the Cleveland Levy. They have a private interest. This is a direct conflict of interest. United Way is a nonprofit organization - “public benefit” corporations; the purpose of its existence is to benefit the public as opposed to the private interests of board members, directors, and staff or even of individual clients.

  • Keep Wal-mart out of Hawthorne
We have a local group "Hawthorne Deserves Better" here in Hawthorne, NJ Wal-mart wants to build on property that is across the streeet from residences. . The road is single lane. Highway property would be more appropriate. It is where families live. They would lower our property values. We are fighting hard and people say we can't beat them. Please show them they are wrong. The Mayor and Council are backing Wal-mart.
