• Law enforcement: Stop killing unarmed citizens!
Too many citizens are being killed because they might be mistaken for for a criminal or they are at the wrong place. This can happened to you or anyone. Police or sheriffs should be more cautious in applying deadly force when it is apparent their potential quarry is obviously unarmed and unable to inflict serious harm.

  • Public sanitary facilities in public places.
Our public City Park has closed the bathrooms. I go to church there on Friday evening and there is nowhere to go to the bathroom. Public parks in different areas of town have unlocked bathrooms 24/7. I believe this is discrimination against the homeless who now do not even have a homeless shelter or somewhere to clean up anymore. The shelter became a drug rehab program after the building was completed.

  • President Obama: Please restore justice and pardon my dad!
Dear Friends, Five years ago, my dad, former Democratic Governor of Alabama Don Siegelman, was taken away in handcuffs and shackles. Most who learned of his case saw it as a travesty of justice, including several prominent Republicans. Though released pending appeal for four years and despite unprecedented support, my father was returned to prison on September 11th to complete a nearly 7 year term because the Supreme Court refused to hear his case. The New York Times, The Washington Post, Fox Business News, MSNBC, CBS, Harper's, Time Magazine, The American Trial Lawyers, Huffington Post, The Guardian, 113 former state Attorneys General, top Constitutional Law Professors, and many others say this case is erroneous and Don Siegelman never commited a crime. He was convicted of an implied quid pro quo, that is an inferred bribe, or a bribe without explicit proof of agreement or self-enrichment scheme. He was never accused of benefiting, at all. I need your help to free my father. Please sign this petition to President Obama asking him to restore justice and pardon Don Siegelman! Please see www.FREE-DON.org for more information

  • Tell Secretary of State Husted: Restore Ohio's early voting hours
Following unprecedented Black voter turnout in Ohio during the 2008 presidential election, Republicans there have been looking for ways to diminish the Black community’s electoral power. Now, under the leadership of Secretary of State Jon Husted, they’ve turned to eliminating the opportunity to cast absentee ballots on weekends leading up to Election Day. This is a clear attempt to limit Black voters’ and other urban dwellers’ access to the polls. Join us in telling Husted to bring back weekend early voting hours so that all Ohioans have the opportunity to vote.

  • Stand up to Monsanto: Label genetically modified foods
Genetically Modified ingredients are in 75% of the foods on America's supermarket shelves. They have been linked to toxic and allergic reactions in people; to sick, sterile, and dead livestock; and to damage to virtually every organ studied in lab animals. I have a right to know if my food is genetically modified. Please pass a bill that requires labeling of foods containing Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs). Ninety-one percent of the American public supports the right to know if foods are genetically modified. This may be the greatest level of bipartisan constituent agreement you've ever encountered on any issue in your career. There have been laws introduced in 19 states that would have required labeling of genetically modified foods, and on November 6 California may become the first state to pass GMO labeling legislation at the ballot box. Don't align with Monsanto, which was voted the most hated company on earth for 11 years running. Please align with your constituents, and: 1) Support GMO labeling legislation that is at least as strong as what is on the ballot in California; and 2) Support the right of states like California to mandate labeling of GMOs. Thank you.

  • Release The Basement Tapes
We are all aware of the horrible tragedy that plagued our nation on April 20, 1999 at Columbine High School. The Basement Tapes were created by the two perpetrators in the months prior to the incident. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office has refused to release the tapes until 2027 due to fear of copy cat crimes. Challenging their reasoning, one can contend that these tapes would give us further insight into the minds of the two subjects and those alike. Therefore, resulting in preventative measures to avoid situations as tragic as Columbine.

  • congressional elections - a 4 year cycle
from a review of the last 25 years of off year elections it is not difficult to conclude that the turnout in these elections are not representative of the society as a whole. the house of representatives ends up being elected by a "rump" of the electorate.

  • It's time for Garden Grove to adopt the Mills Act
The city of Garden Grove has no program in place to ensure the last remaining historic properties are not bulldozed. The City Council refuses to acknowledge or respect our last remaining historic properties. My home was built in 1888 and has called the most beautiful home in the city by many people. Unfortunately, it is not protected from redevelopment. The city had long ago deemed it worthy of being placed on the National Register of Historic Places with a Grade A status. I have asked the council many times for their support in registering my home, the Gem Theater as well as the Stanley-Ware Ranch and Lake Home on Euclid, but they have ignored the issue for years now. Please tell them that preservation matters to you and you want to Garden Grove to adopt the Mills Act.

  • CANCEL THE 50% RESIDENCY RULE AT LACCD COLLEGES
I attended three different colleges in the LACCD district. When it was time for me to petition for my certificates I was informed by the graduation department that I was not eligible for two of them because I did not spend 50% of my residency at "Pierce College". When I transferred I spoke with the "Head of the Department" in the field that I majored in and several counslers who never informed me of this rule that their counsel members made up. I am still fighting for my certifcation's from this college.

  • Urge Congress to mandate that the NCAA abolish amateurism bylaws regarding student-athletes abili...
In 1998, the NCAA began talk about resuming pay for student-athletes and a $2,000 stipend, but 14 years later it is yet to happen. This petition is to request that Congress mandate that the NCAA abolish all bylaws under section 12 (12.5.2.1, 12.5.2.3.2, 12.5.3, and 12.5.4) that forbid student-athletes from accepting any remuneration for the use of their name or picture to advertise, recommend, endorse, or promote the sale or use of commercial products and services. The splendor of abolishing NCAA bylaws under section 12 is that this strategy will help schools avoid Title IX and worker compensation issues. Moreover, universities and athletic departments will not have to directly compensate student-athletes because the free-market will provide enough revenue streams for student-athletes who deserve to further prosper. Simply put, this petition is aimed at "freeing" all student-athletes to participate in the free market.
