Help Stop Boko HaramIn the past two years, Boko Haram has terrorized innocent and law-abiding Nigerians. They are responsible for attacks on churches, schools, media houses and government buildings including the August 2011 bombing of the UN building in Nigeria's capitol city of Abuja. They have killed more than 1400 men, women, and children, and has hindered freedom of religion. I have several relatives who have become internally displaced, some lost their parents and many their means of livelihood. The Nigerian government has been unable to curb their actions. Help us tell US State Department to declare Boko Haram a Foreign Terrorist Organization which will help cut off its funding sources within and outside Nigeria.139 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Kanayo K Odeluga

Improve public schools in Georgia instead of funding charter schoolsFolks in Georgia want the Georgia legislature to restore funding for public schools rather than spending tax dollars on building a parallel system of charter schools that lack the same oversight and standards as public schools.70 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Laura Moody

Tell Joe Walsh to stop the InsultsCongressman Joe Walsh has a long history of using condescending names and insults toward people whom he disagrees with politically. He has also patronizingly called me “my dear,” disparaged my military service, referred to a female TV host as “kiddo,” claimed that African Americans are “dependent upon government” and that “Jesse Jackson would be out of work if they weren’t,” and said that veterans who disagree with him “don’t understand this country.” It’s bad enough that Walsh constantly refuses common-sense compromises on legislation. But not treating political opponents with even a minimum level of civility? That’s unacceptable. It can be easy to tune out Walsh’s offensive comments since, frankly, there are just so many of them. But we have a responsibility to hold him accountable every time.368 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Tammy Duckworth for Congress

Save the U. S. Postal ServiceFirst class mail rate increases on a service whose usage is declining make no sense. Increasing the revenue gained from bulk mail delivery will help the Postal Service remain solvent (and keep its retirement obligations to its employees).17 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Bill McDade

Cancel the Las Vegas WatergrabRural Nevada is in a drought too. A natural area almost the size of Vermont will be turned into a dustbowl. And Southern Nevada neither needs the water, nor can it afford the 15 billion dollar cost. Besides; desalination would mean more water for everyone.145 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Rick Spilsbury

IAPMC Petition for A Nuclear Weapons Free Middle EastThe US large military presence in the Middle East, threats of invasion and sanctions against Iran over the claim that Iran is building “nuclear weapons.” is exacerbating an already tense and volatile situation. These add to the fires burning in the Middle East, a real threat of another Middle East war with wide spread repercussions. Peace loving people must speak out. We are calling for support of the Conference to be convened by the Secretary-General of the United Nations together with Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States, in Helsinki, Finland in December, 2012, to be attended by all states in the region of the Middle East, to consider the establishment of a Middle East zone free of nuclear weapons and all other weapons of mass destruction. The establishment of such a zone would be based on legally-binding agreements freely concluded by all States of the region and with the full support and engagement of the nuclear-weapon States. The objective is to ensure that ALL the countries in the region agree to rid the region of nuclear weapons and all other weapons of mass destruction and their delivery systems. This is a logical solution rooted in both history and the anti-nuclear weapon experience. We urge you to sign our petition. Yours in Peace, Alfred L.
