  • Don't Deny Eligible Voters Their Rights
In hotly contested elections, political parties will do everything they can to win, including efforts to suppress votes for the opposition. Don't allow this to happen. Please sign this position to ensure that every eligible voter gets the chance to participate in this most fundamental democratic exercise.

  • U.S. Chamber of Commerce: Get out of Maine elections
Maine prides itself in its independent spirit. As out-of-state groups increasingly exert their influence on local issues, we lose Maine voices. A most recent example is the election of Gov. LePage and marriage equality referendum. Please make your voice heard and sign this petition: Tell U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Americans for Prosperity, and other out-of-state, corporate-funded groups to stop trying to influence elections in Maine.

  • Calling for Allegheny County GOP Chairman Jim Roddey apology
It is always fine to have a difference of opinion. Every day, you have to work with others who have a different opinion than you. Being mature enough actually work through your differences, and that of the other person, or group, to get things accomplished is at the very foundation of our democracy. So any person holding any office who represents any political affiliation, especially one of the major political parties, and resorts to calling a person, or groups of people, names are childish and should not be tolerated. Here is the offense. Allegheny County GOP Chairman Jim Roddey said: "There was a disappointment tonight. I was very embarrassed," Roddey told the crowd, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "I was in this parking lot and there was a man looking for a space to park, and I found a space for him. And I felt badly–he looked like he was sort of in distress. And I said, 'Sir, here's a place.' And he said, 'That's a handicapped space.' I said, 'Oh, I'm so sorry, I saw that Obama sticker, and I thought you were mentally retarded.'" (Copied from The Huffington Post.) I am requesting that this person apologize in public and in print to the Republican Party, to all handicapped individuals, and to mentally challenged persons for using the derogatory comment to further polarize people and damaging the integrity of the electoral process.

  • Amendment for Congress Term-Limits
Our Founding Fathers never intended for politics to be a "career" and once you've served your term, you go home. I believe that Congressional members should have term limits just as the President and Governors do. They get too comfy with all the perks and prestige and then spend up to half their term fundraising and campaigning for re-election. Who's doing their job they were elected for while they are out of their office? Term limits of no more than three terms. Then they go back to their "real life." This might have a positive effect on campaign financing as well. Please sign the petition if you believe Congress should have term limits.

  • Promise not to bully
My petition is about the rise in bullying in school. Children are required to abide by guidelines/rules in schools, i.e. dresscode, no firearms/drugs, attend class regulary, be on time to class etc. Instead of schools just declaring their school a no bully zone, have each child in elementary, middle, and high school sign a promissory note not to bully. With consequences to follow if they do. i.e. verbal warning, suspension, expulsion, depending on the damage/harm caused. This record will stay in their files until they graduate. If they change schools, the establishment will know their past history. It should be signed during school registration, each year. With no statute of limitation.

  • Florida's Public School's age requirements need to change!
My daughter’s birthday is Sept. 20, 2007 and because Florida's Public School age requirements states that children attending Pre-K need to turn age 4 on or before Sept. 1 of the year attending, she was forced to stay home for an entire year. Florida’s age law for Public Schools needs to change, we are holding back our children from learning and interacting with others their own age. We are calling for flexibility on age when it comes to Pre-K and/or Kindergarten; we are asking that Florida adopt New York's requirements for Public School where children are allowed until December 31 of the year attending to turn 4 or 5 respectfully.

  • STOP ELDER ABUSE BY FUNDING THE ELDER JUSTICE ACT 2010
Elder abuse is the CRIME OF THE 21ST CENTURY. A senior is abused every five seconds in the United States. We are elder abuse and senior financial exploitation victims. My wife is facing the rejection of her transplated liver due to her exposure to toxic mold. Our former landlord stop the delivery of her anti-rejection medication and refused to fix a leaky moldy sink. This was done by our former landlord in retaliation to our filing a complaint about the false advertising, imposter nurse, and criminal activity at the senior living facility. We have been fighting this slumlord for three years for ourselves and for our other 46 abused and financially exploited seniors. We are fighting for the rights of elders in memory of my 94-year old aunt, Catherine Reinertson, who died abused, financially exploited, and a broken women as a result of the criminal activites of our former senior living facility.
