FDA: Don't approve Oxycontin for childrenMy brother, Darin "Koncreet" McClintock, accidentally overdosed on Oxycontin at the age of 32. He was a successful business man and had been married for almost three years. Darin was prescribed Oxycontin because of a broken arm he sustained in a snowboarding accident. Oxycontin, in the same family as heroin and morphine, is a highly addictive opioid and is causing unnecessary and tragic deaths all over the country. Purdue Pharma LP is currently conducting a trial of Oxycontin on children aged 6-16 for moderate to severe pain, aiming to gain FDA approval to label the controversial painkiller for use by children as young as 6 and extend its patent on the drug, which is set to expire in 2013. Please join me in opposing FDA approval of Oxycontin for young children.245 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Kelly Winter

Gov. Kasich Address The Social Security Disability BacklogOhio has the largest backlog for social security disability applications in the entire country. This is not something that happened yesterday, this issue has been given lip service for years now. According to Sen.(Dem) Sherrod Brown the current backlog is at 40,000 and continues to grow. Is this how the state of Ohio rewards its tax payers, by making them wait 3 to 5 years for something they paid tax money into ?2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by dorsey thompson

End Rent GougingPutting a reasonable cap on what apartments can charge for rent. Affordable housing shouldn't be just for the poor. I am in the process of trying to buy (and currently living with friends and family) because it was cheaper to have a mortgage, HOA fee, and taxes for a bigger place then to rent a small modest 1 bed apartment.7 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Jessica Powell

Idaho Power should shut off coal powered plants during low demandWith the cost of power affecting everyone and the hot dry summer affecting our atmosphere, why should the coal powered plants continue to be powered up when demand is low? Wind power should be the alternative to the dirty coal emissions used unnecessarily when demand is low.657 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Shirley Ealy Killam

Helicopter noise problemA significant rise in the noise level from the increased numbers of helicopters and other aircraft during the last two weeks has become unbearable. Our quality of life and right to peaceful enjoyment is in jeopardy. East Hampton Airport has now ceded control to the FAA and by the End of August, the FAA plans to make the flight path over NOYAC, North Sea, Bridgehampton and Sag Harbor the only permanent helicopter/aircraft route to be used to and from Manhattan. The new proposed permanent route is for all helicopters to go North to South over Jessup’s Neck and the Morton Wildlife Preserve and over Noyac, North Sea, Bridgehampton and parts of Sag Harbor. The noise affects a wide swath of residential properties from here to the airport. Our property values will forever be negatively impacted by this noise and pollution.535 of 600 SignaturesCreated by Barry Holden
