I have lived in Colorado for 17 years, 14 in the Denver Metro area. While I have not been personally affected by yesterday's shootings, I am struck this morning by the way violence and hatred are woven deeply into our cultural fabric. After this senseless act of violence, let's do something that makes sense. Let's change the political conversation in honor of the victims.

President Clinton passed the Federal Law that bans Assault weapons & high volume cartridge magazines for these weapons. This Federal Law was allowed to expire under President George W. Bush. Nobody except Law Enforcement & our Military should have access to this type of rapid fire, high velosity & mass automatic reload weapon. A regular citizen such as the Aurora Movie Theater Killer has no business being able to purchase this type of weapon LEGALLY because this type of weapon is not necessary for home/personal protection OR for sports hunting. THIS LAW AFFECTS ALL OF US, ESPECIALLY OUR CHILDREN.

I feel that our country has caused such a terrible problem by these dangerous guns that GOD has been displeased with the United States. I want to support the Mayor of New York in his effort to ban dangerous guns.

On May 9, 2012, President Obama spoke in favor of marriage equality in an interview with ABC News. In his strongest show of support, he affirmed that the right to marry should extend to same sex couples. Please tell all your friends and neighbors that this petition seeks to send the same message that President Obama spoke to our leaders in Harrisburg. I'm petitioning the enacting of gun laws that will do a better job in keeping guns out of the hands of those with mental issues that should preclude them from purchasing or owning guns--something needs to be done NOW. I'm a survivor of a shooting similar to the one in Colorado. Mine was in Salt Lake City in a mall called Trolley Square--lots of people died there too.

Veterans who trained or stationed at Ft McClellan were exposed to highly toxic agents while there! I personally trained there 10/79-4/80. Veterans are getting sick and there have been deaths! I would like to see a ammendment pass by the State of Florida for all Seniors of the age 65 + and over should be issured Free bus passes to ride the bus locallly and have the convience of good bus transportation. I live in Saint Cloud Florida, and I noticed that there is limited bus transportation locally to get to where I like to go. There aren't any buses that ride up and down Highway 192 conviently to go to the stores on this hightway and even to Disneyland.
