Student Loan DischargeTrapped in high student loans and high interest rates. I don't make enough money to cover the monthly loan amount. Afraid to continue higher education of accumulating higher debt. At this rate getting ahead seems impossible.7 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Vanzi Wright

President Obama needs show leadership with a nationwide address on climate change now!The world and the country is getting more and more extreme weather every year with over 40,000 temperature records broken this year along with record breaking wildfires and droughts. The public are now seeing this affect them personally and there is widespread belief that the climate is changing due to the burning of fossil fuels. This was predicted decades ago by the scientists and is now happening! We need real leadership in Washington to address this issue yet the President says nothing and most republicans in congress deny it is even happening. Please sign the petition demanding the President address the country to begin a constructive national dialogue on climate change. We need to act NOW.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Todd Jensen

Save a tree; stop junk mailMost people I know do not open the junk mail and advertisement they get in thei mail: in Europe citizens can affix a sticker to their mailbox will will prevent junk mail and advertisement to clutter their mail boxes and increase pollution and deforestration. Junkmail also costs the USPS since they pay less than first class mail!24 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Joe Binard

No Budget? No Pay!There is a bill in the House called the No Budget, No Pay act, which demands that congress must pass a budget and all 12 appropriations bills by October 1 of each fiscal year or they don't get paid. Congress drags it's collective feet every year and delivers a budget usually 6 months or later. If you failed to do your job, how long until you'd find yourself without an income?19 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Bill S

Needed- $14 Dollars from every Obama VoterA call to all who voted for the president in 08 to send in a modest donation of $14.00 to the Obama campaign -sixty-eight million voted for the President in 08! That would level the playing field for a game to important to loose! I'm very concerned that the office of the presidency is up for sale. If it is the American People should be the ones to pay the price..20 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Sandra Bennett

Set Pay and Term limits for Congress and SenateIt is well know now that people of Congress and the Senate get paid $300,000.00 a year. Moreover, if they step down. They continue to get that pay check for the rest of their life. If they die, their spouse gets the income. This is just giving billions in American Tax Dollars to pay for private contractors to protect them from us, to pay for their vacations with the rest of the elite in the world, and to fly them on private jets rather than have them use the same air lines as the rest of the population. Once a person leaves a job, their paycheck stops; as well as. their insurance. The ability to serve in these institutions should not be reserved for nobility, but any American with ability to get the job done. If we are to fix the waste of our Tax dollars, it has to start with what our leaders get paid, and how they use Taxes for personal gain rather then the good of the republic. We need a healthy democratcy, not just one for the privileged few.23 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Johnny Exodice

Forgive old student loans for retirees on Social SecurityBecause interest accumulates during student loan deferment periods, the balance on student loans exceeds the principal more than once during a borrower's lifetime. The result is that borrowers are stuck with student loan debt when they retire on Social Security, even if they had paid back their principal once or twice. Many of the student loan forgiveness bills apply only to loans taken out during the past 10 or 20 years and ignore old student loans.34 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Linda Seltzer

License for breeders of pit bullsSince pit bulls are considered dangerous dogs in many locals, only people licensed by the State should be allowed to breed them. This will cut down tremendously on dog fighting which is already illegal, but difficult to enforce.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Rosanne Galak

Cancel student loan interest during unemployment and hardship defermentsBorrowers shouldn't be asked to repay the principal on their student loans twice. But that is the current situation. During periods of unemployment, when people have an unemployment or hardship deferments, the interest continues to accumulate. Currently, for loans consolidated before 1994, the interest is locked at 8%. During the deferment period, interest continues to accrue. The interest exceeds the amount that the borrower has already paid back and the balance reverts to even more than the original principal. The result is that student loan borrowers are being forced to pay pack their loans twice or even three times. Some of the legislation to help borrowers applies only to relatively recent student loans and not to old student loans that are still being repaid.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Linda Seltzer

Remove Joe Paterno's statue from in front of Beaver StadiumIn light of Fmr. FBI Director Freeh's scathing report on Joe Paterno's involvement in covering up Jerry's Sandusky's crimes against children, we believe Joe Paterno's statue should be removed from in front of Beaver Stadium in Happy Valley, PA.
