Free speech is a fundamental right enshrined in the First Amendment of the US Constitution. On June 13th during a debate of House Bill 5711on the floor of the Michigan House, Representatives Lisa Brown and Barbara Byrum used the words vagina and vasectomy in their eloquent and courageous speeches. Apparently, these medically-correct terms are shocking to the Republicans who control all three branches of the Michigan government. As a result, Speaker of the House Jase Bolger along with Majority Floor Leader Jim Stamas have stripped these eminent legislators of their first amendment rights to free speech. No reason for their censure was given other than decorum must be maintained. No length of time for this punishment was provided. We demand that the censorship of Representatives Lisa Brown and Barbara Byrum be lifted immediately and that Speaker of the House Jase Bolger and Majority Floor Leader Jim Stamas issue a public apology to these outstanding and courageous women.

Protection for Voters who are criminally attacked by Election officials

Maine people across our state are struggling to make ends meet. The last thing we need is a toll hike that makes it harder to get to work or school. But now, if you live or work west of I-295, you will be asked to pay more just to drive to work each day. That’s right, the Maine Turnpike Authority is proposing to increase some tolls up to $7.00 round trip. It’s unfair to ask western Maine travelers to pay even more to go the same distance as those in southern Maine. We must stop this unfair toll hike. I live ina city that is the Capital of the United States where I have lived sor the last forty years, paid taxes, voted and taught at a local University (George washington U.). My one highly qualified representative in Gongress does not have a right to vote on major legislation (her vote was taken away recently, adding insult to injury!) The employment at will law which covers most people in this country allows a company to fire an employee without cause. This is a corruption of the implied contract implicit in all jobs. Anybody care?

Short Sales / Foreclosures

American's have enough debt already. So why are the same debts being reported to an individual's credit report multiple times for a single amount owed to a single party? Because when you don't pay the collection agency sells your "debt" to another collection agency... and another, and another... But none of them ever deletes their reporting from a credit file when the account is closed. I am asking the credit rating bureau's and the federal trade commission to allow only one negative entry to an individual's credit report/rating per debt. If a collection agency sells the debt to another agency, without collecting any money from the "debtor", that the original "creditor", or collection agency, be required to remove their reporting from your credit to "make room" for the next collection agency to appear. There is too much disorganization on credit files and one incident should be ONE incident, not a hundred.
