There are two meeting scheduled for the public prior to the adoption of the proposed widening of 24th Street. The is the Plan A which takes the houses on the north side of street and walls it off. Plan B is to take the houses on the South side of the street. Plan C is to not to expand the street. That is the No Build Alternative. We support No Build Alternative. TRIP (Thomas Road Improvement Project) will be taking comments from the citizens before seeking approval with the City of Bakersfield Planning Commision scheduled for July 5, 2012. • Support authorization of the School for Examining Essential Questions of Sustainability (SEEQS)
SEEQS’ founding board--a group of committed and experienced educators, parents, and community members--plans to open a free, public charter school in Honolulu in August 2013 that will serve 6th and 7th graders and expand to include 6th- 12th grades by 2018. The mission of the School for Examining Essential Questions of Sustainability (SEEQS) is to foster lifelong learning among a diverse group of secondary-level students through exploration within authentic learning environments. SEEQS graduates will be stewards of planet Earth and healthy, engaged citizens of Hawaii and the world. SEEQS’ authorization is partly contingent on showing the Public Charter School Commission that there is abundant community support for such a school. Please sign this petition if you would be interested in sending your child to SEEQS and/or if you would support the school opening in the community. Then pass it on to friends and colleagues in the Hawaii community. Mahalo! Please include your city/state when signing so that the Commission can verify that we have *local* community support! Parents: indicate that you are a parent in the comments section—that will strengthen our application! If you are interested in learning more about the school, please visit our website at www.seeqs.org.

  • Reinstatement of our Guidance Counselor
Guidance counselors play a vital role in our school community. Without them our school will not be able to function and the students will not receive the necessary information they need in terms of planning their future, personal issues, and college information. Most colleges require students to send a recommendation from a counselor and getting a new counselor for the 2012-2013 school year will greatly affect the student's college process.

  • Save the New Orleans, Mobile, Birmingham and Huntsville Newspapers
Tell the Newhouse Family, we don't need a Some-Times Picayune: If you don't publish 7 days a week, we won't buy your papers! The Gulf South cities of New Orleans, Mobile, Birmingham and Huntsville will be without daily newspapers on Sept. 30th, and the newsrooms of those entities will be cut by as much as half as the Newhouse family seeks greater profits from their newspaper chain. In New Orleans, the multiple Pulitzer winning newsroom saw 84 people fired yesterday, 49% of the staff. Despite promising more quality reporting after transitioning to primarily digital publishing, Newhouse family leadership is ignoring the significant digital divide which exists in New Orleans, as well as the simple truth that you can only do less reporting with fewer reporters.

Demand congress senate, and our President explain to the people on national television why they have taken an enormous amount of money from the people and give it to the loan institutions for them to give themselves enormous bonuses, then continue to take our homes from us one by one. This is so dam wrong for our leader on both side of the isle to allow this to happen to the american people.

  • Return my horses
Holding the State of New Mexico accountable for a selfish and poor decision of confiscating eight of my horses after I invested every bit of energy and resources I could to provide educational and personal opportunities to The Albuquerque westside community of appreciation and understanding through horsemanship pleasure and trailrides trainings. The lifestock board conficated the animals because I did not have any proof of ownership at the time when I was feeding them and after I proved ownership a week later I was expected to pay $800.00 to get my horses back.

  • Voter Eduaction
With all the talk of voter registration and ID requirements across the country, a lot of Indiana voters may be confused about what the voting rules are—or might even think they're disqualified when they're not. We need to ensure that voters know all of the new rules and whether or not they are eligible to vote. We also need to pressure our state legislature to be sure that voters know the laws and no eligible voter is unable to vote.
