There are two meeting scheduled for the public prior to the adoption of the proposed widening of 24th Street. The is the Plan A which takes the houses on the north side of street and walls it off. Plan B is to take the houses on the South side of the street. Plan C is to not to expand the street. That is the No Build Alternative. We support No Build Alternative. TRIP (Thomas Road Improvement Project) will be taking comments from the citizens before seeking approval with the City of Bakersfield Planning Commision scheduled for July 5, 2012. The project is expected to commence in 2013 if approved.

Guidance counselors play a vital role in our school community. Without them our school will not be able to function and the students will not receive the necessary information they need in terms of planning their future, personal issues, and college information. Most colleges require students to send a recommendation from a counselor and getting a new counselor for the 2012-2013 school year will greatly affect the student's college process.

The Gulf South cities of New Orleans, Mobile, Birmingham and Huntsville will be without daily newspapers on Sept. 30th, and the newsrooms of those entities will be cut by as much as half as the Newhouse family seeks greater profits from their newspaper chain. In New Orleans, the multiple Pulitzer winning newsroom saw 84 people fired yesterday, 49% of the staff. Despite promising more quality reporting after transitioning to primarily digital publishing, Newhouse family leadership is ignoring the significant digital divide which exists in New Orleans, as well as the simple truth that you can only do less reporting with fewer reporters.

The lifestock board conficated the animals because I did not have any proof of ownership at the time when I was feeding them and after I proved ownership a week later I was expected to pay $800.00 to get my horses back.

With all the talk of voter registration and ID requirements across the country, a lot of Indiana voters may be confused about what the voting rules are—or might even think they're disqualified when they're not. We need to ensure that voters know all of the new rules and whether or not they are eligible to vote. We also need to pressure our state legislature to be sure that voters know the laws and no eligible voter is unable to vote.
