Our representatives may start out with the best of intentions when they first get elected to the Senate or Congress and then they get caught up in the political network. It's all down hill from there. I say, serve your country for 2 terms and then you're done. No expensive retirement plan, no healthcare for life. Rotation of the reps and the ideas is the only way to keep these folks working for the people they represent.

Neither did two senior employees of Alabama Public Television who objected to airing a TV series produced by right-wing pseudo-historian David Barton -- a Religious Right activist who supports imprisoning gay people. But when they spoke up, they were fired by the Republican-controlled Alabama Educational Television Commission. Public television is beloved for featuring entertaining, educational content, not hatred and lies. The Republicans on the AETC purging dissenting employees think they have the support of the religious community. They need to hear that people of faith reject their partisan agenda. Tell the Alabama Educational Television Commission: Reinstate the fired staff and keep the hateful Religious Right propaganda off public television.

We've recently heard from MoveOn members in Louisiana who want Governor Jindal and the leaders of the state's university system to lower the cost of tuition at our state colleges—so that working families can send their kids to college without taking on massive debt.

I bank at Sun Trust and got this notice on my monthly statement: "EFFECTIVE JULY 23, 2012 THE $12.50 OVERDRAFT PROTECTION TRANSFER FEE WILL NO LONGER BE WAIVED WHEN A LIVE SOLID SAVINGS OR GET STARTED SAVINGS ACCOUNT IS USED AS THE SOURCE OF OVERDRAFT PROTECTION." This over draft protection simply transfers the necessary amount from a savings account to a checking account if the account gets overdrawn. We're calling for an end to ridiculious fees just because they can charge them. Why does it cost $12.50 to make the same kind of transfer internally I could make myself on a computer for free? $12.50 to move my money from one account to another?

Up until close to election time, no restrictions on issue oriented (not politician oriented) messages as long as the messenger properly identifies themselves and additionally, if the messenger represents a group, the source of every penny in their pocket. Our public airwaves shall be required for a period of time before an election for eligible candidates air their views and debate.

Bain Capital owns Sensata Technologies, which bought the plant where I work in Freeport, Illinois two years ago. Now, Bain is shipping our jobs to China. Mitt Romney was at the helm of Bain Capital while it owned companies that, according to the Washington Post, "were pioneers in the practice of shipping work from the United States." Mitt Romney bears responsibility for starting the practice and should now play a role in helping to end it. I didn’t find out that Sensata was owned by Bain until recently, right before Mitt Romney came through our area on the “Every Town Counts” bus tour promising to create new jobs. We don’t need new jobs, we just need Romney to keep our jobs here in the U.S. I tried to tell him that while he was campaigning in Janesville, Wisconsin—just 55 miles away. But unfortunately, he didn’t want to listen. So now we need your help to get his attention. Please sign our petition to tell Mitt Romney that he needs to stop talking about creating jobs and actually do something to save ours. I don’t know what I’m going to do if I lose my job. My company used to offer a full year of severance pay, but that was cut to six months. It’s all about money for Bain and Romney, but for us, it’s about how we make a living and feed our families. What I do know is that I’m not alone. There’s 165 of us getting laid off just in my plant. And millions of other workers who have been laid off—or will be laid off—unless Romney and other businessmen stop shipping jobs overseas and start creating jobs in America.
