Currently, our politicians at the federal level are voting on issues that do not impact them. When they vote on health care, their jobs are not impacted by the decisions they make about it. They vote on whether or not to give themselves a raise? What other jobs out there conduct themselves in this manner? We should vote for whether or not they're doing the kind of job that would warrant a raise. Social security does not impact them in any way. They need to be impacted by what they're voting on. We need to make our politicians realize they're public servants. They need to stop only serving themselves, and start serving us again.

The President's jobs plan would put teachers, firefighters, police officers, and construction workers back to work right now. And it's paid for by asking the wealthiest Americans to pay a little more, but Congress refuses to act. Tell Congress we can't wait:

I want the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Secretary of Labor, and the President to insist on reporting the true growth in the labor force. For May, the figure we read was 69,000 jobs created. That was the seasonally adjusted figure. The true number was 789,000, not seasonally adjusted. Can you imagine what a boost to President obama's reelection prospects the true number would have been?

The purpose of this petition is to address the education budget cuts implemented by the Texas State Senate, House of Representatives and Governor Rick Perry. Texas already ranks near the bottom of every educational statistical category. These budget cuts further cripple our children's chances of being competitive in the emerging global economy. How will Texas remain competitive if we don't properly educate our future leaders? We call on our state leaders to correct these heinous budget cuts.

Schools need better funding to increase the effective use of learning technologies in the classroom. The federal government eliminated the funding source of Title II D and states are increasingly eliminating the learning technology line item in state budgets. Some districts have followed suit! Recently, a young man has made some horrible comments about Pres. Obama and VP Joe Biden. He posted a hateful speech on youtube that went viral stating that Obama and Biden have made kids gay. His old account was deleted on youtube, but now he is back. Please sign this petiton urging youtube to permanently block him, and to impose stricter video monitoring of youtube videos.

Over 200,000 senior citizens in Illinois are losing vital help to pay for their medications. This will force seniors to choose whether or not to take needed medcine(s). In many cases the cost of monthly premiums along with increased prescription costs will prove to be too much. The State of Illinois will probably see an increase in hospital and emergency room admissions due to people not taking needed and often life-saving prescriptions.

In my opinion this petition goes to the core of this democracy: the people's right to know. In this case something as basic as what is in their food. Genetically modified foods (GMOs) are currently exempt from labeling. Over forty countries require labeling of GMOs. Non-labeling represents one more example of the dominance of corporate money and influence (in this case Big Ag) over the basic principles of this democracy: freedom of information, the people's right to know and non-censorship of information. In November, Californians will have the opportunity to vote on a ballot initiative requiring GMO labeling. In addition, several state legislatures have recently moved towards introducing legislation to require labeling (Vermont and Connecticut did so in the past two months). In all cases Big Ag has forcefully squashed such moves, and in the case of state legislatures has thwarted legislation. Polls show 90% of the people want GMOs labeled. Monsanto, which has a woeful decades-long record of aggressive and bullying behavior (some of which has been documented in a number of books and films), is the chief player.

Governor LePage and his Republican legislators narrowly have coddles the rich while soaking the poor. We must recall him and elect Democrats this fall.

This petition urges Congress to enact THE NATIONAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE COMMISSION ACT. Irregularities and inequities in America’s criminal justice system challenge our notions of fundamental fairness. This bill will establish a commission to study the current functioning of the criminal justice system.

Apparently one gets sued if one makes critical statements about grains or food in the United States. This is not right for a democratic society.
