• Save the Adoption Tax Credit
The Adoption Tax Credit has helped families offset high costs for years. Signing this petition will ensure that the refundable tax credit is renewed. It is set to sunset at the end of 2012 and move to a non-refundable credit. In 2013 it will be cut in half and only available for special needs adoptions. We need your help to make it permanent and refundable for all Americans adopting. We are in the process of adopting a child. The cost of adoption can range from a few thousand dollars to over $50,000! Having the Adoption Tax Credit available for families, helps in more ways that just financially to the family adopting. By helping people who might not otherwise be able to afford the costs of adoption; foster care children will be reduced, the need for orphanages in the future will be eliminated/reduced, abortions will go down and mother's keeping kids they cannot afford and thereby increasing welfare to them will also go down. This is a win/win for humanity, tax payers and for the government. Thank you adoptiontaxcredit.org for providing info to better address the needs of the credit to be extended.

  • Medical benefits for Part Time Workers
I think this is a very important issue, because of the economy, and what has become the new world we live in. I feel there should be some type of law guarantees medical benefits for part time workers. My son has been employed at Giant Supermarket for five years, listed as part time, but scheduled work hours are full time, yet he has no medical coverage. There should be some compensations for employees. that have no choice but to accept this type of employment due to the lack of full time work. Without the risk of being terminated because they deserve medical coverage. Thank You

  • Take the Toxic Chemicals out of my Couch
According to a Chicago Tribune investigative series, “A deceptive campaign by the chemical industry brought toxic flame retardants into our homes and into our bodies. And the chemicals don't even work as promised.” Since 2008, the CPSC has been working on a draft furniture flammability standard that would stop fires from starting in furniture fabric. This new standard will prevent the use of untested and toxic chemicals in the foam inside furniture. We need the CPSC to enact this standard so we can buy furniture and baby products that are both fire resistant and toxics free.

  • Governor Brown: No more toxic flame retardants in my furniture and body
For decades, flame retardants chemicals have been added to furniture and baby products across North America because of an obscure 1970s California regulation. The regulation not only has been ineffective at stopping fires, but it also has led to the use of toxic and untested chemicals linked to lower IQ, cancer, infertility, and many other health problems. A recent Chicago Tribune investigation exposed how the chemical industry uses deceptive tactics and misrepresents science just to keep selling us their toxic products. Tell California Governor Jerry Brown to get toxic chemicals out of our furniture, homes, bodies and environment.

  • AARP: Support H.R.4170
March 2012: The Federal Reserve Bank of NY released numbers that many found startling; 36 Billion dollars (4.2%) of our nation’s total student loan debt belongs to Americans 60 and older. An additional $98 Billion (11.3%) belong to soon-to-be seniors ages 50-59, and those between age 40 and 49 owe $142 Billion (16.4%).
These age groups, who should be planning for, or enjoying retirement, account for 32% of our nations total student loan debt! Many of these borrowers are, or soon will be, subject to Social Security garnishments! There is something very wrong with a system that is structured so that, even at these ages, borrowers have not been able to pay off their student loans! • Bag the Crooked Bankers!
Banks used bogus, forged, paperwork to kick family's out of their homes. A firm was contracted to sign documents with a fake signature indicating the banks owned the property. There needs to be an indictment of those responsible, just as we would be jailed for committing forgery for financial gain.. This was detailed by some of the very people hired on 60 Minutes!
