• Stop fox penning
    Fox penning takes trapped foxes, which are then released in an enclosed area and allows packs of hounds to chase them and rip them apart. This is considered a "family sport." It is legal in VA and some other states. Efforts to regulate it or stop it in VA have been unsuccessful thus far. This sport is inhumane to animals and de-sensitizes children to cruelty and violence, much like dog fighting.

  • The wealthy who want equality in tax rates and no preferential treatment
    From Sandy, the originator of this petition. I am not in this income bracket, but I am really curious. I would like to know how many people who make over $500,000/year want equality in tax rates and NOT preferential treatment because they are wealthy and can afford to hire accountants and tax attorneys to find ways to pay less taxes. Income is income. AND, truly how many acknowledge they were not able to do it alone--that they benefited from public investments in infrastructure, research, public education, health care, etc?   • Repeal of the 16th Amendment
    Whereas, the Founding Fathers created a Federal Government which was not allowed to levy an Income Tax on its Citizens, the 16th Amendment changed this in 1913 and now allows the Federal Government to take away the wealth of the Citizens of the States and place undue burdens on the States for the return of their Citizen's money. Whereas, the Federal Debt per person was $12 in 1910 before the Income Tax amendment and was $28,229 per person in 2006 and growing, the need for limits on Federal spending is obvious.

  • US citizens answer phones
    There are many unemployed people in the United States. When you call a company these days a computer answers instead of a person. If you don't know who to contact it is very frustrating. Computer answering should be banned, all companies should be required to have a person answer the phone who is a resident of the United States and a citizen of the United States.

  • Motor Fuel Choice -- Break the Oil Oligopoly
    American's should be empowered to choose cleanest, safest, most affordable non-petroleum motor fuel that best serves their needs; today those fuels are electricity and natural gas. To make this happen auto & truck makers must be motivated to mass produce affordable natural gas and electric vehicles. Fuel developers must be motivated to deploy fuel stations in locations that meet consumer needs. This requires POLICY LEADERSHIP. I'm calling on President Obama and the Congress to enact policy that empowers the CONSUMER to CHOOSE the motor fuels and vehicles that best serve their needs.
