Protect Southern New Mexico LandsThe Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument has been proposed by a group of business, environmental, non-profit, and government organizations to preserve and protect the natural beauty of Southern New Mexico as well as historic sites including Mogollon Jornado, ancestral Puebloan, Spanish, Mexican, and Anglo - indigenous camps, petroglyphs, historic ranches and homesites, Butterfield Overland Mail route, World War II test and training bomb targets, and even places where Apollo astronauts trained. These areas in the Organ Mountains, Robledo Mountains, Sierra de las Uvas, and the Potrillo Volcanic Complex are threatened by development, mining, and potential abuses of the land. Previous attempts to protect these lands required an Act of Congress. Designating them a National Monument, under the Antiquities Act of 1904, requires only an Executive Order by the President. Protecting these special lands should be high on our list of things to do.641 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Bud Russo

Unemployment Insurance for Credit Union EmployeesCredit unions are exempt from paying into the state unemployment insurance fund. This may have made sense in the past when credit unions were small financial cooperatives. However, Credit Unions have expanded their business model and now operate as quasi banks offering a full range of financial services from credit cards to retirement planning. Employees of Credit Unions should therefore enjoy the same social safety net as those persons employed by for profit financial institutions.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Gerald Reiner

Right to OrganizeSince people are given the right to opt of of a union through the right to work legislation they should also have the right to be represented by an organization if it be their desire! The rights of an individual should not be dependent upon a cooperation favoring their decision.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by HCheatham

Health Care in America—Change is NecessaryHealth care in the United States is sorely lacking. Politicians have claimed medical cannabis has no medical value despite growing evidence and scientific studies documenting otherwise. Medical cannabis DOES have medical value—hundreds of physicians are converging upon Tucson, AZ, in April of 2012 to get continuing education credits sanctioned by the American Medical Association. Science is progressing. It is time for politicians and our government to be accountable to their voters' health and health care decisions. Require Health Insurance Companies to pay a realistic amount for Out-of-Network ServiceHealth insurance companies reached a settlement in 2009 with NYS requiring them to set up a data base to determine how much to reimburse for those policies that provided for out-of-network service. The insurance industry spent $90 million to create this data base. But since they were not obligated to use it, they are now basing their reimbursement amounts on Medicare rates, which are much lower.14 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Laurence Mark, M.D.

None of the above/Election Day National HollidayA third option or choice on all ballots, for those that can't bring themselves to vote for either of the two major parties and still have a vote and be counted. Make election day a National Holliday so people can get to the booths to vote and not miss work or get to the polls late because of work.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Ray Klotz/Rachel Xaviera
