• Keep Daylight Savings time all year long
Changing our time back and forth is damaging to health and the environment. We need to leave our time one way or the other. We really need daylight savings time more in the winter months when the daylight hours are so short.

  • Tell President Obama: Help keep Veterans in Their Homes by Reducing their mortgage payments, Redu...
Hi, This petition is for all veterans, family members and anyone who is concerned about veterans and their families. There have been several foreclosures of homes owned by veterans in Bell County. Some foreclosures were due to unemployment, and others were due to medical issues. I am sure that veterans and their families losing their homes to foreclosures are occurring around the country. This petition is asking President Obama to take the middleman – BANKS out of the home loan process to veterans and their families. The objective of this petition is to ask President Obama to allow veterans to borrow directly from the government and take the middle man out of the home loans to veterans’ process. The Obama administration has done this with student loans. Students who want to borrow money for higher education can now borrow directly from the Department of Education. Why not extend this to veterans’ home loans by allowing veterans to borrow directly from the Veterans Administration who is currently the guarantor for all veterans’ home loans. It shall decrease the rate of foreclosure for veterans, reduce their mortgage payments, and allow them to pay off their loans sooner. More importantly, it will reduce homelessness amongst veterans. Help stop the bleeding of veterans; take the middle man out of the home loan business. Why should you care about this? In the community that I live in, several veterans and their families have lost their homes to foreclosures. Perhaps in the communities that you live in, the same has happened. I know of veterans who have paid for 15 to 20 years on their mortgages and now because of medical issues, or unemployment their homes are being foreclosed. What a way to thank our veterans and their families for their honorable service to our country. Please sign this petition and stop the tragedy. That's why I created a petition to President Barack Obama, which says: "Take the middle man-BANKS out of the home loans to veterans.” Will you sign my petition? Thanks! Victoria Gulf War Era Veteran

  • Sentencing Disparity & Petition Seek Sentence Modification
Event: FREE DANNY MEANS! LET OUR VOICES BE HEARD!!! My nephew, Danny E. Means, has been incarcerated for 15 years because of his involvement in a series of crimes stemming from a 1997 bank robbery. Of the 3 men involved with these crimes, only Danny received the lengthy sentence of 120 years. The others served less than 8 years, while Danny remains incarcerated. All 3 men were involved in these crimes that had potential for harm but no one was injured or killed. Even so, the prosecution was allowed to increase low-level charges to more serious charges. Not for the purpose of bringing justice to the matter, but for no other reason than to get the largest sentence possible for Danny. You see, we the family and friends of Danny do not condone his actions in any shape, form or fashion, and neither does Danny! However, nor do we condone an "in-justice" system that allows such grievous racial disparity in its sentencing. Danny received a sentence twice that of the maximum for murder and much more than a white male of the same age would have received for the same charges. Furthermore, statistics show that by the end of 2005, 8.1% of black males age 25-29 were incarcerated compared to 1.1% white males for the same charges. We his family and friends are not claiming that Danny is innocent. Only that his sentence is unjust and we refuse to let this unjust sentence hang over his head for approximately the next 30 years left on his sentence without our voices being heard! Help us speak out about the injustice and sentence disparity being done to all black men and Danny by following this link: Thank you for your support and your prayers.

  • Lottery Scholarship to Pay Student Loans
Arkansas currently has a lottery scholarship program. Applicants can receive funds to pay for college tuition in full. 40% of those who received the scholarship dropout. We should use at least 1/2 of the available funds for those who have finished college and are working in the state to help pay back student loans. If I had my loans covered I could and would spend more money in the local economy.

  • End the violence in Syria without US Military Involvement
Our nation expresses its sympathy to the citizens of Syria who are suffering and witnessing murder and torture directed at them by Syria's President, Bashar al-Assad. But compassion will not stop the violence. There is another way without the military involvement that risks soldiers and civilians. We suggest a reward of at least $10,000,000 (that's 0.0000115 of the military part of the approved US Discretionary budget for FY 2012) for the safe delivery of Bashar al-Assad, President of Syria, to the International Court of Justice, for trial on charges of crimes against humanity. This offer means no military intervention; no one gets killed -- neither military nor civilian, captor or offendor. Justice prevails -- peacefully.
