Cal Grant CutStudents of many private colleges may have their Cal Grant reduce by the Governor of California in the upcoming budget cut, but Governor I am concern about students' future and the opportunities to achieve a good education at the University of Redlands and other universities. Please do not deprive them of what will make this nation a productive and progressive place.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Hazel Morgan

Halt commodification of waterWater is necessary to all living things. Recently, bottling companies such as Coke, Pepsi and Nestle have attempted to manipulate water sources needed for municipal drinking, irrigation and natural habitat preservation to their own ends:profit. Not only are the plastic bottles showing up on the bottom of the Pacific ocean and in sea creatures' digestive systems, but the bottlers are also sidestepping FDA regulations by bottling and distributing within state boundries, thus eliminating the oversight of the FDA, which only regulates federal, i.e. interstate products. People have been fooled into thinking that bottled water is superior in quality to that of their local municipality, whose water sources are tested daily by the EPA. Often that same "inferior" water is bottled and then sold back to consumers at a huge mark up. Bottlers have fought against disclosing their sources, and continue to profit off consumer fear and misinformation.8 of 100 SignaturesCreated by V Logan

Employment Based On Credit Scores Should Be IllegalIt should be illegal for an employer to screen any employee, or employment applicants credit report, and base their employment or potential employment on that score. This discrimination is a large part of what is keeping the unemployment rate at high levels.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Maria Franze

Children's PromisePledge for voters and lawmakers in Alabama to sign, promising to protect the needs of children. Our current General Fund is in severe shortfall: services to children including their medical care are being threatened. Some lawmakers have signed a Norquist Pledge not to bring in new revenue with taxes-- we want them to pledge instead to do the right thing for the children of our state. Uniform Sound ActOn television and radio, the commercials are routinely made to play much louder than the regular programming. This is an offense to the ears of all Americans and an imposition upon all American citizens of all political bents. A strictly-enforced rule should be enacted to forbid this practice.21 of 100 SignaturesCreated by James H. Dautremont

Save Hollywood -- Modify the Hollywood PlanThe Hollywood Community Plan will diminish the quality of life for all residents -- current and future. Variances and established height limits to protect environmental impact will be waived. Coordination with emergency services, public transportation and community facilities is a MUST. This is a developer's dream. Developers will be able to Manhattanize Hollywood with residents having little recourse to object. The Plan is based on flawed data as the City of Los Angeles contends that the population of Hollywood will increase to 250,000 by 2030. When in fact it has steadily decreased -- more than 7% over the last 20 years -- with no indication of growth. Please hellp us make our goal.1,191 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Schelley Kiah

Stop taxing my social security! There is a tax on social securiy payments if one dares take anything over $15k out of investments or other pensions. Barak Obama promised to change the calculation to exempt double the amount in the formula. It hasn't been done and, especially here in NYC, $15k is not a high income. It is unfair to tax money that I paid for in 45 years of work.16 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Robert C. Yuknavech
