Restrict Motorcycle Noise Careless OperatorsMotorcycles are becoming more numerous and hence more noisy. Motorcycles operate in residential areas without any concern for the noise that emanates behind and around them. It is a problem of the operator. It is a problem of the human tendency to regard these machines as toys to do with what they will, no-matter if the way they operate the machine encroaches upon the living quality of those who must listen to the raging noise as they speed on their way. Noise is regarded as a health issue: as something that detiorates health and is now beginning to be investigated for subtle and insidious damage to our physiology.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Paul L. Price ControlsIn 1933 president Rooselvet As part of the "First New Deal," becuase by market instability and that government intervention was necessary to balance the interests of consumers. The NIRA, which created the NRA, declared that codes of fair competition should be developed through public hearings, and gave the Administration the power to develop voluntary agreements with industries to control price fixing mostly bi the oils companies. The price of food is going up every day and the price of oil. During a crisis like in the 1930s the president needs to step in to help the people.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Annetta Murray

Congress: Modernize the Measure of PovertyPoverty guidelines do not match today’s cost of living. We want the government to set realistic poverty guidelines, so citizens can maintain a decent standard of living and save for their future. The income guidelines that the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) follows to determine eligibility is the current poverty guidelines which have not changed in many years. The poverty guidelines also do not take into factor the cost of living and where you live in the country which varies from state to state.148 of 200 SignaturesCreated by LaTanya B.

No Bullying in the SchoolhouseBullying is used by school administrators to harrass teachers to "go somewhere else." It is not an issue of "improving teacher quality" but an issue of power. Many targets are quality teachers who are admired by colleagues and students. Bullying of adults causes the same psychological stresses as it does for students who are bullied; teachers cannot teach their best when they are being bullied. Bullying adults is not a good model for students; student learning is degraded. If we are to eliminate student bullying, adult bullying needs to stop first.29 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Richard Reuther

Election Day HolidayWe celebrate shopping in the USA more than we do voting. More people get the Friday after Thanksgiving off than get Election Day off. Why can't Election Day be as important as Columbus Day? After Bush V Gore, Shouldn't we the people be demanding this? It is a state holiday in some states why not all of them?11 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Lee Wells

Innocent until Proven GuiltyHave the recently passed legislation allowing American citizens to be held by the military, without trial in indefinite detention, overturned. It is blatantly unconstitutional. I am appalled that President Obama signed into law this bill which removes American's rights to a speedy trial and the concept of being innocent until proven quilty. Losing basic rights in the name of security is beginning to turn us into a police state.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by mary casey

New Vista NEEDS Mark OlofsonNew Vista High School is not renewing Mark Olofson's contract. Mark has been a science teacher at NVHS for the last three years. However, he also wears many other hats. He's a student advisor, Robotics Club leader, director of the Shop Club, and the respected mentor to numerous students. Mark, in walking to the beat of a slightly different drum, brings a unique creativity to our school. New Vista is unabashedly different than the other regional high schools -- and Mark makes "different" cool/extraordinary/fun. Our high schools need as much of that as they can get. In short, Mark is the kind of teacher that New Vista High School really needs, and now the school is planning to not renew his contract. Please sign this petition to keep Mark a part of New Vista High School and a positive part of the student's lives.129 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Juliet Luna

No more war!!!It's way overdo that we end all wars or aggression against other countries soon. This country has enough to do here at home, and it's time we stopped interfering in other country's internal issues. Security for us, yes, but occupation, no. We've already made too many enemies already.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Karen Oliver

Allowing Our Children From Single Parents In Low Income Families To Stay In SchoolThe nations low income families who have children in single parent homes are forced to consider having their children go to work to contribute to the household expenses instead of finishing school so that they can become self sufficient and move out on their own to take care of themselves and becoming productive citizens. We need to petition the Government to allow for college students passing their classess to have a stable home that is not going under to take care of their children housing, meals and transporation costs.6 of 100 SignaturesCreated by LaChelle L.
