Petition is in regard to congressman and senators and anyone else in government who keep their salary even after they have left office. We should sign this because every paycheck with 99% of jobs end, when the job ends. why should congress continue to get pay and health benefits when they are no longer in office?

The Supreme Court recently ruled that anyone arrested by police can be strip-searched for any reason. ANY minor infraction including riding a bike without an audible bell; failing to use a turn signal; having a noisy muffler; engaging in a sit-in -- can now trigger a strip search. This ruling by the Supreme Court will enable police to strip search anyone without justification. Legislation is needed NOW to stop this appalling violation of civil rights.

What will people do when the money runs out, pretty soon intrest will eat up alot of the federal spending budget.What will you do when the rest of the country becomes like Illinois ? State Police have been refused gas because Illinois is such a deatbeat !

MORE funding, NOT less, is necessary to restore our educational system to its once-respected status; however, funding MUST BE DIRECTED TO THE CLASSROOM and closely monitored! INNOVATION in developing individualized curriculum and teaching practices centering around "the whole student" is paramount...unlike that proposed by "No Child..." ONE SIZE DOES NOT FIT ALL!

With so much "dis-information" in the media today we need to have laws enacted, like the "Truth in Advertising" law, adopted by the Federal Trade Commissions Act in 1968. This law insures advertisers to be truthful and non-deceptive. The “Truth in Advertising” law, is not considered an infringement of our freedom of speech because advertising is "for profit," just like news programming is. A “Truth in News” law would insure the factual, truthful and objectivity of any news programing. Any purposefully misleading statements made by a network would be prosecuted in a court of law. American’s deserve to know what information we are given is news, and what is propaganda. We need a place to rely on for factual, truthful, and objective news. As it stands criminals profit from all black market trade and are often times caught on tax evasion charges. The creation of new taxable industries on products that are already in circulation only makes sense. Money is being siphoned into imprisoning people for addiction rather than getting them the psychological attention their disease needs. The compassionate, pragmatic, sensible move is to legalize marijuana, tax it, and watch as a new industry drags us out of economic hardship. This would not only create a large amount of jobs but it would secure a new revenue stream. It would also reduce existing overhead as the failed war on drugs would no longer monopolize so much money limiting other possible outlets for expenditure. Think of the extra money for education and infrastructure; brighter children and better bridges. Think of the impact of how our government is viewed; getting people treatment, help, for their addiction instead of treating them like villains. What is wrong with a little compassion? It certainly seems that creating this new industry would have the potential to change our social, and economic, situation for the better.

There is a continual onslaught of Campaign lies and misinformation. The misrepresentation of facts by republicans in media ads and by conservative talk show hosts is astounding and there appears to be no concerted effort to expose this.

Since we’ve had new Leadership in Lansing, Michiganders have been robbed of their jobs and Constitutional Rights in a deliberate effort to gut residents of any power to resist a corporate takeover. This reverse Robin Hood is quite similar behavior exhibited in a middle eastern regime. Just like the middle east corrupt politicians and the wealthy are controlling, destroying Education, keeping citizens impoverished, Destroying local Governments and Police Departments at a rapid pace, replacing them with the governors mayors and his State Police. Disproportionately in predominantly Black communities. Michigan is the 8th most corrupt state in the union and always has been, Democrat or Republican. Let Wisconsin be our inspiration.

Bring needed money back to our infrastructure: schools, hospitals, roads, transportation, eldercare, and other needed services by taxing the 1% that pays less than their fair share of the taxes needed to run these programs.

I am requesting the impeachment of Gov.Bob McDonnell who has shown insensitive views on Woman,Education and Minorities. Gov.McDonnell's ineptness and blatant lies has caused many Teachers,Police Officers and Healthcare workers to lose their jobs throughout the commonwealth of Virginia. Gov.McDonnell is more focused on trying to run for Vice President then running the great State of Virginia.
